The Botetourt Chamber of Commerce is partnering with Virginia Western Community College to offer a one-day training for ServSafe® Food Handler Certification. It will be on Saturday, July 24 from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Claude Moore Education Complex in Roanoke. Registration is $40 for members and $55 for future members.
This is an opportunity for employees of restaurants and any food handling entities to get certified to ensure that your business will maintain the highest standards for foodservice, ensuring customers and clients that food safety is a top priority. The ServSafe® program goal is to educate workers in the foodservice industry about the causes and consequences of foodborne illness. The certification helps prevent deaths, illness, and the reputation of restaurants.
The certification is being taught by Chef James Zeisler, an experienced chef and culinary arts educator, who currently serves as Program Head of Virginia Western’s Culinary Arts program. He is a ServSafe® instructor with 15 years’ experience and has been a certified food protection professional for the last 20 years.
Visit the Chamber’s website to register for this safety training. The Chamber will be offering the next level of ServSafe® Food Manager as a follow-up to this certification.
