Springwood Food Pantry open today
The Springwood Baptist Food Pantry will be open on May 15 from 10 a.m. until noon. Additionally, Feeding America Southwest Virginia’s produce delivery vehicle, the “Veggie Mobile,” will be onsite to distribute fresh fruits and vegetables to community members in need free of charge. This program is part of the food bank’s Mobile Produce Program. Stop by and take advantage of this valuable opportunity to get fresh, healthy produce.

Bake sale to benefit Rise Against Hunger
Buchanan Presbyterian Church is beginning fundraisers for this year’s Rise Against Hunger food packing event. To make the event happen, they need your help to raise the $4,200.
The first fundraiser is a bake sale on Friday, May 17 from 8 a.m. until noon at the Buchanan Town Hall. If you can bake a goodie or two for this event, contact the church office at 254-1390 or talk with Liz Provost, the chair of the church’s Mission & Outreach Committee that is sponsoring this packing day.
The actual food packing day will take place on Saturday, Aug. 24 at the Buchanan Fire Station on Main Street from 9-10 a.m. for setting up work stations and from 10 a.m.-noon for the packing the food packets.
Last year, the community packed 15,120 food packets with 85 volunteers working together. This year, they’d like to achieve that same number or more. All ages and all organizations are invited to participate in this vital feeding ministry.
Mt. Olivet Spring Bazaar May 18
Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church will hold its Spring Bazaar from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, May 18. Breakfast and lunch will be available. Items at the bazaar will include those made by the Mt. Dale Ridge Family & Friends Day Sunday
The public is invited to the annual Friends & Family Day at Dale Ridge Church of Christ on Sunday, May 19. Come and bring a friend or two for some great food and fellowship.

Bingo May 21 at Wheatland Lutheran
Bingo will be the program for the May meeting of Sharing God’s Grace at Wheatland Lutheran Church at noon on Tuesday, May 21 with lunch served by the ladies of the church. Bingo will follow lunch and small prizes will be awarded to the winning cards. Bring your friends and neighbors for a few hours of fellowship, good food, and a spirited game of bingo. Fish fry at Mill Creek on May 25
The Alaska Mission Team and The Standing Rock Mission Team will host a Fish Fry in the Mill Creek Baptist Church fellowship hall on Saturday, May 25, from 4:30-7 p.m. The meal will consist of two pieces of fish, parsley potatoes slaw and a corn muffin. For those eating in, a beverage of tea, lemonade, water or coffee will be available. As always, homemade desserts will be for sale. Tickets are $9 each and advance tickets are recommended by calling 540-797-2304 or 540-520-2213.

Eckankar presents ‘Experience HU – The Sound of Soul’
The public is invited to a “Sound of Soul” event on Tuesday, May 28, at 7 p.m. at the Blue Ridge Library, 28 Avery Row, Roanoke.

Pico Cemetery needs funds
Pico-Styne-Nofsinger Cemetery in Buchanan is in need of funds. Donations are needed to have the cemetery mowed and maintenance done. Mt. Bethel VBS June 3-7
Mt. Bethel Church the Brethren Vacation Bible School will be held June 3-7, 6-8 p.m. Each night will include crafts, recreation, music, snacks and Bible stories. This year’s theme is “Son Spark Labs Discovering God’s Plan 4 U= Jesus.” The week will finish on Friday with a short presentation and cookout. Mt.
