Appalachian Vespers this Sunday
The public is invited to attend the monthly Appalachian Vespers service at Emmanuel Chap at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 23. Evening Vespers is a time of prayer, music and fellowship.
The service will be held by the Rev. Willis Logan from St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Fincastle. George Honeycutt and his band, Highway South, will provide the music. Everyone is encouraged to attend the reception at the firehouse after the service.

Cloverdale Church of the Brethren Thrift Shop
The thrift shop has a large selection of spring and summer clothes for the entire family; also shoes for everyone. Women’s shorts and capri pants for just $1. The shop is open each Saturday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Ladies Night Out at First Baptist
First Baptist Church of Fincastle will be hosting its annual Ladies Night Out on Saturday, April 22 at 4 p.m. This spiritual event is organized by First Lady Sis. Carolyn Brown. The guest speaker will be Robin Harnist, a former combat USAF Combat Specialist. Robin has served as a national speaker and representative for a national Military Ministry speaking to women from California to Greenland. She has been studying God’s Word for 30 years and has served in her church, locally at Bible study fellowship classes in Roanoke, MOPS, and women’s retreats. Ladies Day at Daleridge
Daleridge Church of Christ will hold Ladies Day, “Attaining Your Dream Home,” from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, April 22. Check in is 8:30 a.m.; pastries, drinks and lunch provided. Cow Bell Service at Mt. Joy
Mt. Joy Church of the Brethren will hold a Cow Bell Service on Saturday, April 29, at 7 p.m. The church is located 2565 Buffalo Road, Buchanan. Everyone is welcome.
Trinity UMC chicken barbeque
Trinity United Methodist Church will hold their Civil War Reenactment Weekend chicken barbeque on Saturday April 29 from 12-2 p.m., eat in or take out.
Adult meals are $8 and children’s meals are $5. The adult meal includes half of a chicken, barbeque beans, slaw, drink and dessert. The children’s meal includes a hot dog, barbeque beans, slaw, drink and dessert. Proceeds will support local missions. The church is on Main Street in Buchanan.
Pierce Chapel yard sale
A yard sale at Pierce Chapel Church is being planned for April 29. Pierce Chapel is located four miles north of Fincastle on Timber Ridge Road.
The sale will be held from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Spaces will be available for $5 each and sellers must provide their own tables. Bake sale items will be available on the grounds.

Limestone Park BBQ, yard sale April 29
Limestone Park in Buchanan will have its annual Beef BBQ from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. April 29. A yard sale will be held from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Spaces are available for $15. Call Tom Moore at 529-5290. A car wash, sponsored by the swim team, starts at 10 a.m.
Wheatland Lutheran yard sale
Wheatland Lutheran Church is having a yard sale from 7 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, April 29, rain or shine. There will be clothing, collectibles, housewares, yard items, furniture and maybe some antiques. Food will be available. Proceeds will benefit Youth Programming. St. Mark’s UMC yard/bake sale
St Mark’s United Methodist in Daleville will have a church-wide yard/bake sale in the Family Life Center on Saturday, April 29 from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. The St. Mark’s “Mark Out Cancer” Relay For Life team will be offering breakfast and lunch items for purchase.

Fincastle UMC chicken barbecue
Fincastle United Methodist Church will have a chicken barbecue dinner Saturday, May 13. It will be held from 4-7 p.m. at the VFW Hall, 4902 Roanoke Road, Daleville. The menu is half a barbecued chicken with Percy Bolton’s special sauce, homemade potato salad, baked apples, roll and drink. Homemade desserts will be available for purchase. Tickets are $10 and must be purchased in advance by calling 473-2969.

New Beginnings Assembly of God, 1317 Narrow Passage Road, is having a yard sale and bake sale Saturday, April 29 beginning at 8 a.m.
Solomon’s Mission pancake breakfast April 29
Solomon’s Mission will hold a pancake breakfast fundraiser on Saturday, April 29 from 7:30-11 a.m.
Breakfast will consist of pancakes, scrambled eggs, choice of bacon or sausage and juice, coffee or water. Cost is $7 for adults and children over 12. Children under 12 eat for $3.
Solomon’s Mission is located at 592 Lowe Street, Buchanan. All proceeds will go toward support of Solomon’s Mission.
