Homecoming at New Beginnings
Homecoming is Sunday, August 18, at New Beginnings Assembly of God, beginning at 11 a.m. The guest speaker will be a former pastor, Jerome Coleman. All are invited. The church is located at 1317 Narrow Passage Road, Buchanan.
Summer Bazaar at Mount Olivet
The Summer Bazaar at Mount Olivet United Methodist Church, 26310 Lee Hwy., Buchanan, will be held on Saturday, August 17, 8 a.m.-1 p.m., serving breakfast and lunch, with a bake sale, yard sale, and items made by the Mt. Olivet Quilters. Come and enjoy the food and fellowship.
Summer sale at Cloverdale Thrift Store
Cloverdale Church of the Brethren Thrift Store is having a summer sale – all clothes and shoes are half-off the original thrift price. There is an enormous selection, come check it out.
FUMC Clothes Closet dates
Fincastle United Methodist’s Clothes Closet will be open on Tuesday, Aug. 20, and Saturday, Aug. 24 in the Family Life Center at 137 S. Church Street. Tuesday hours are 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and Saturday hours are 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Donations of gently worn, clean clothing and shoes may be dropped off at that time too.
GriefShare will begin again at St. Mark’s UMC
GriefShare is a small support group offering hope and encouragement for those who have lost someone they love through death. The program consists of a workbook, video and small group discussion that offers compassion, confidentiality and sharing with others who understand. It doesn’t matter how recent or long ago your loss happened, you can find God’s healing through this program.
St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Daleville will begin the fall cycle of classes on August 22. There are 13 weeks of classes to be held in person in the fellowship hall. There are two sessions to choose from: 10-11:30 a.m. or 6:30-8 p.m.
Open enrolment for any session allows for those who can’t begin on August 24 to come and join when they can. Call the church office at 540-992-3030 for more information. Registrations may be made on the church website at www.stmarksmethodist.com. All are welcome.

The PHBC Women on Mission group will host guest speaker Lindsay Ward of the Blue Ridge Women’s Center on August 15 at 10:30 a.m. Come and learn more about this wonderful mission opportunity.
PHBC will be hosting the Priscilla Shirer: Going Beyond Simulcast on Saturday, August 24, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Registration will open at 8 a.m. with light breakfast fare available. Lunch will be served and the event is free of charge. Pre-registration is required and you can register by emailing phbcsimulcast@gmail.com or by calling or texting 540-915-8978. This is event is open to all ladies and gentlemen but seating is limited so register early.
Help St. Mark’s pack meals for Rise Against Hunger
St. Mark’s United Methodist will be hosting a meal packing for Rise Against Hunger on Saturday, September 7 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Since St. Mark’s started working with Rise Against Hunger as of this packing on September 7, members will have packed 300,000 meals that have gone to hungry people in many countries. The church needs 100 volunteers to make this happen on September 7 and invites the community to join for this meal packing. There are jobs for all ages. Back To God revival at Limestone Park
The Buchanan Area Ministerial Association will be holding a Back To God Gathering revival on Sunday evenings at Limestone Park beginning Sunday, August 18. Services will begin at 6 p.m. each evening. Bring a chair or sit in your car.
