Cloverdale Church of the Brethren Thrift Shop
The Thrift Shop has name brand dresses and slacks suits for $3 each. There is a good selection of sizes and colors. The shop is open each Saturday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Appalachian Vespers August 18 in Eagle Rock
St. Mark’s Episcopal Church will host the monthly Appalachian Vespers service at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18 at Emmanuel Chapel in Eagle Rock. Emmanuel is located at 251 High Street. Refreshments at the Eagle Rock Firehouse are served after the service.
Appalachian Vespers is a 40-minute prayer and music service on the third Sunday of each month (March-December). This month’s service features musicians Randolph Walker and Aspen Black. They will bring a mix of traditional gospel and original Christian songs to Appalachian Vespers. A singer/songwriter who lives in Franklin County, Aspen travels the country performing in western music venues and was a 2018 nominee for Academy of Western Artists CD of the Year and Song of the Year with her CD “Lovin’ The West,” co-produced by Randolph Walker. Donations needed for Mt. Union Cemetery

Summer Bazaar at Mount Olivet UMC
Mount Olivet United Methodist Church, 26310 Lee Hwy, Buchanan, will hold its Summer Bazaar on Saturday, Aug. 24, 8 a.m.-1 p.m., with breakfast and lunch, bake sale and yard sale. Space is available for $5.
