Fincastle UMC holding coat drive

Fincastle United Methodist Church is conducting an ongoing coat drive to help those less fortunate keep warm. Donations of clean, gently used coats are being accepted and made available to those in need during regular office hours of Tuesday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

 

Extended hours at Solomon’s Thrift Store

The Solomon’s Mission Thrift Store on Lowe Street, Buchanan, will be open every Thursday in December from 11 a.m.-4 p.m., in addition to regular hours.

 

Cloverdale Thrift Store stocked for Christmas

The Cloverdale Church of the Brethren Thrift Store has lots of Christmas decorations, Christmas sweaters, toys, and a large selection of winter coats. It is open from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturdays. Donations are welcome.

 

Fincastle UMC Christmas cantata Sunday

Fincastle United Methodist Church welcomes all to the Christmas cantata, “The Journey to Bethlehem,” during the 10 a.m. worship service on Sunday, Dec. 18.  A mixture of songs and readings, it will feature special music by the Sanctuary Choir, Botetourt Ensemble, Mike Hurd and Bill Campbell.  Hear the story of Christ’s birth through music and scripture.

 

Christmas services at Colonial Baptist

Colonial Baptist Church in Blue Ridge invites everyone to the Christmas Eve Candlelight Service on December 24 at 5 p.m., and the Christmas service on December 25 at 10:30 a.m.

Upcoming activities at St. Mark’s UMC

  • O Holy Bright Drive-Thru Christmas Lights: It’s that time of year again for the third annual Drive Thru Christmas Lights event Dec. 16-18 and Dec. 24 from 5:30 to 9:30 at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Daleville.

 

Special services at Springwood Baptist

  • Saturday, Dec. 24, special Christmas Eve service at 5:30 p.m.
  • Sunday, Dec. 25, service 10:30 a.m.; no Sunday School

 

Special service at Pleasant Hill

Pleasant Hill Baptist will hold a Christmas Day service on December 25 at 10 a.m.

Everyone is invited.

 

Christmas Eve service at Troutville Brethren

The Troutville Church of the Brethren will have a Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at 5:30. The Church is located at 5133 Lee Highway in Troutville; (540) 992-1571.

 

Cave Rock Baptist providing free meals

A free community meal will be provided at Cave Rock Baptist Church on Wednesday, Dec. 14, from 5-6:30 p.m. Stay for free food and fellowship or come by and take the meal to go. No donations will be accepted. The church is located at 2233 Stoney Battery Road, Troutville; Mark Childers, pastor.

 

Springwood Food Pantry open Dec. 17

The Springwood Baptist Food Pantry will be open on Saturday, Dec. 17 from 9-10:30 a.m. The pantry is located at 88 Copps Hill Road, Buchanan. This pantry is a drive through pantry, so clients may remain in their cars and volunteers will load the food for them.

The pantry is open each month on the third Saturday from 9-10:30 a.m. It is a partner with Feeding America Southwest Virginia and anyone in need of food is invited.

 

Community Meal at Galatia Presbyterian

Galatia Evangelical Presbyterian Church’s Potluck Community Meal is January 2 at 12 noon. It will be a soup, sandwich and dessert meal because of all that food during Christmas. The ladies of the church will provide the soup, along with tea, lemonade, water and coffee. Bring sandwiches or desserts to share and join in for fellowship and food. Galatia Evangelical Presbyterian Church is located at 78 Gala Loop Road, Eagle Rock.

 

‘Night of Encouragement’ at Solomon’s Mission

Solomon’s Mission will hold “A Night of Encouragement” this Saturday, Dec. 17. There will be a meal at 6 p.m., followed by a service at 7 p.m. Pastor Darren Meadows will bring the message and Deanna Draper will lead the music.

Solomon’s Mission is on Lowe Street in Buchanan.
