Senior Valentine’s lunch at Solomon’s
Solomon’s Mission on Lowe Street, Buchanan, is having a free Seniors Valentine Lunch at noon on Tuesday, Feb. 14 at noon.
Pastor Mike Woody will be giving a message, Barbara Hill will read a poem she wrote, Keith Wood will bring us some piano music and Melissa Lucas from The Botetourt Resource center will have bingo at the end for any who want to stay. This is limited to Botetourt County residents only and is a free event .
Eagle Rock Clothes Closet February hours
The Clothes Closet at Eagle Rock United Methodist Church will be open Wednesday, Feb. 8, 5-6:30 p.m.; and Saturday, Feb. 11, 9 a.m.-noon. Free clothing will be available to men, women and children. ‘Souper Bowl’ lunch at St. Mark’s UMC
The TAME Ministry at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church will sponsor a “Souper Bowl” Soup Luncheon on Sunday, February 12 immediately following the 11 a.m. service in the Family Life Center. Donations for lunch will benefit the TAME Ministry’s “Rise Against Hunger” Meal Packing in September. Chicken salad, pimento cheese and PBJs and chips and crackers will be served as well.
Springwood Food Pantry open Feb. 18
The Springwood Baptist Food Pantry will be open on Saturday, Feb. 18 from 9-10:30 a.m. The pantry is located at 88 Copps Hill Road, Buchanan. This pantry is a drive through pantry, so clients may remain in their cars and volunteers will load the food for them. The pantry is open each month on the third Saturday from 9-10:30 a.m. It is a partner with Feeding America Southwest Virginia and anyone in need of food is invited.
Shrove Tuesday Supper at Ebenezer UMC
Ebenezer United Methodist Church will have a Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper February 21 from 5 till 7p.m. Instead of a set price, donations or canned goods for the food pantry at Troutville Baptist Church are requested. Ebenezer is located at 85 Nace Road, Troutville. All are invited.
GriefShare begins March 2 at St. Mark’s
St. Mark’s United Methodist Church will begin a new season of GriefShare on Thursday, March 2. Anyone who has lost a loved one is welcome at either of the two sessions: 10-11:30 a.m. or 6:30-8 p.m. A video will be viewed at the beginning of each class with group discussion to follow. There is a workbook that will be given free to all participants that can be used to take notes with the video and then taken home with devotionals that can be read during the week. The group will meet in the fellowship hall honoring the optional use of facemasks and distancing.
