Lapsleys Run Baptist Homecoming Sunday
Lapsleys Run Baptist Church will celebrate its annual Homecoming Day on Sunday, July 14. The speaker for the 11 a.m. service will be the Rev. Ulas N. Broady.
Guests for the 3 p.m. service will be the Rev. Harvey Saunders with choir and congregation of First Baptist Church- Hollins.
Dinner will be served following morning service. Everyone is invited.
Upcoming events at Solomon’s Mission
An indoor craft sale and yard sale will be held from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, July 13 at Solomon’s Mission Community Center. Breakfast and lunch will be available, along with jewelry, Scensy, and a lot of yard sale vendors. A few spots are still available; call 460-3206 if interested. All proceeds from the spot rental, food sales and Solomon’s Mission table will go toward buying supplies for Back to School Day on July 27.
The SWAG youth night hosted by Solomon’s Mission is from 7-9:30 p.m. Saturday, July 13. Middle school and high school youth are invited for food, games, music and a message by Brad Turner.
St. Mark’s UMC: Site of Galactic Blastoff
5…4…3…2…1…Blastoff! Children ages 3, who are toilet trained, through rising fifth graders are invited to St. Mark’s UMC at 19 Cedar Ridge Drive, Daleville for Cokesbury’s Galactic Blast Vacation Bible School. VBS will be held Monday, July 15 through Friday, July 19 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. This cosmic adventure will include games, snacks, crafts, Bible stories, music and more. Cadets that register by July 11 will receive glow-in-the-dark T-shirts. Service Squad, a hands-on mission trip, will be available for all rising sixth and seventh graders during the same times as VBS. Bingo at Wheatland Lutheran Church
Bingo will be the program for the July meeting of Sharing God’s Grace at Wheatland Lutheran Church. The meeting will begin at noon on Tuesday, July 16 with lunch served by the ladies of the church. Bingo will follow lunch and small prizes will be awarded to the winning cards. The community is invited to enjoy a few hours of fellowship, good food, and bingo. Springwood Food Pantry open July 17
The Springwood Baptist Food Pantry will be open on July 17 from 10 a.m. until noon. Additionally, Feeding America Southwest Virginia’s produce delivery vehicle, the “Veggie Mobile,” will be onsite to distribute fresh fruits and vegetables to community members in need free of charge. This program is part of the food bank’s Mobile Produce Program. Stop by and take advantage of this valuable opportunity to get fresh, healthy produce.

Happenings at Galatia Presbyterian
Galatia Evangelical Presbyterian Church will have its church picnic after the 10:30 a.m. worship service on July 14. Bring a dish a join in. The church and pavilion are on Gala Loop Road, Eagle Rock.
Appalachian Bible College choir coming to Buchanan
The Gospel Heralds, a team of nine students from Appalachian Bible College, will give a concert of inspirational music at Lithia Baptist Church in Buchanan at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10.
Vocal and instrumental selections will combine with personal testimonies. A brief introduction to ABC, West Virginia’s only accredited Bible college, is also included. Admission to the concert is free and the public is invited. For more information, call Pastor Marc Barber at (540) 819-7723.

Andrew Chapel ice cream supper July 20
Andrew Chapel United Methodist Church will hold its annual ice cream supper on Saturday, July 20, beginning at 5 p.m. The menu will include chicken dinners, provided by Aaron’s Smokehouse, hot dogs, desserts and homemade ice cream. Proceeds benefit the church building fund. Andrew Chapel is located at 3936 Beaver Dam Road, just off Springwood Road.
Mt. Pleasant ice cream supper July 27
An ice cream supper will be held at Mt. Pleasant (White) Church on Saturday, July 27 at 5 p.m. There will be chicken plate or BBQ plate with vegetables, a dessert and a drink. Bring a chair and enjoy the food and fellowship. All are invited.
Homecoming at First Baptist Church
First Baptist Church in Buchanan will have Homecoming on Sunday, July 21. The worship service begins at 11 a.m., lunch from 1:30-2:30 p.m., and an afternoon service at 3 p.m. Guests will be the Rev. Steve Henderson and choir from Morning Star Baptist Church in Roanoke. Everyone is welcome.
Bible Time at Colonial Baptist
Colonial Baptist Church in Blue Ridge is inviting racers of all ages to Colonial Bible Time 6:45-8:30 p.m. July 21-25. The theme this year for boys and girls age 4-grade six is “The Incredible Race.” It includes World-class Crafts, World-class Science, Globe-trotting Games, Runway Cafe, and a nightly Checkpoint Assembly. Be there each night to move from continent to continent, and make stops at various times in history up to today. Race through fun clues and challenges to learn about another “incredible race” – the human race!
The Teen CBT will be held one night this year – on Wednesday, July 24, from 6-9 p.m. for teens in grades 7-12. Invite friends for games, food, and a message. There will also be an Adult CBT Class entitled, “Hello, I Am God.” The adult class meets Sunday-Wednesday from 7-8 p.m. Call the church office at 977-5683 for a ride. No pre-registration required. Youth Workshop at First Baptist
The Sunday School Ministries of First Baptist Church of Fincastle, where the Rev. Montie E. Brown Sr. is pastor, and First Baptist Church of Amsterdam/Cloverdale, where the Rev. Shawn Burch is pastor, will be having a Youth Workshop for kindergarten through 12th grade. The workshop will be held at First Baptist Church of Fincastle located at 6529 Blue Ridge Turnpike. This year’s theme is “Steps Towards My Future.”
The Kick Off Fun Night will be held on Friday, August 2, from 6-8 p.m. with food and spiritual games. The full-day workshop will begin at 9:30 a.m. and end at 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 3. Several presenters will be sharing on Christian Growth, Citizenship, and Education. Pre-registration for this workshop can be completed on line at eventbrite.com ‘” Steps To The Future”. Although, online pre-registration is encouraged, registration may also be completed at the workshop.
Lunch will be provided on Saturday and everyone is welcome.
