Buchanan Food Pantry open Saturday
The Buchanan Presbyterian Church Food Pantry will be open on Saturday, July 22 from 9-11 a.m. Volunteers from St. Marks United Methodist Church in Daleville will be handing out food to those in need in Botetourt County. Food staples including bread and milk will be distributed curbside at the church, 19559 Main Street, Buchanan.
Ice cream social this Saturday
PleasantDale Church of the Brethren’s ice cream social is coming up this Saturday, July 22, at 5 p.m.
Austin Myers will be there to play us some music. A love offering plate will be set out for Austin.
Supper is not planned, nor a potluck. But if anyone would like to bring a plate to share, please feel free to do so.
The church will be providing the ice cream. And perhaps some surprise refreshments as well. All are invited.
‘Back-to-School Fun’ at Troutville Park
Troutville Baptist Church will host “Back-to-School Fun Time” from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, July 29. In addition to a free bag of school supplies and free hot dogs, students will participate in games with prizes and drawings.
Bible Time at Colonial Baptist
What time is it? It’s Bible Time! Ready to Dino stomp to a place kids dream about? Join the whimsical adventure at Colonial Baptist Church in Blue Ridge in the upcoming Colonial Bible Time July 23-26. The theme this year for boys and girls age 4-grade 6 is “Stompers & Chompers” where they can hop on a triceratops, run with a raptor, and soar with a pterosaur.
Kids will enjoy crafts, snacks, games, and a nightly stomp & chomp jungle assembly. Kids will meet Sunday-Wednesday from 6:45-8:30 p.m. An adult class is also offered each night from 7-8:15 p.m. entitled “A Faith Worth Fighting For.” Call the church office at 977-5683 for a ride. Mt. Joy Church Homecoming
Mt. Joy Church of the Brethren will celebrate Homecoming on Sunday, August 4. Sunday School will be at 10 a.m. and worship service at 11 a.m. There will be special music by Family Circle. A potluck meal will be served after the worship service. The church is located at 2565 Buffalo Road, Buchanan. Everyone is welcome.
Andrew Chapel ice cream/picnic July 22
Andrew Chapel UMC will hold its ice cream/picnic on Saturday, July 22, beginning at 5 p.m. This year’s event will include hot dogs and Bratwurst, with full fixings and chips, and homemade ice cream and desserts. Music will be provided by Mike Lee and the Mill Creek Players. Proceeds benefit the church building fund. Andrew Chapel is located at 3936 Beaver Dam Road, just off Springwood Road, in Buchanan.
VBS at Springwood Baptist
Springwood Baptist Church will have Vacation Bible School on Wednesday. July 26, through Friday, July 28, from 6-8:30 p.m. The theme is “Carnival Under the Big Tent with God!” for all ages. Movie night at Trinity UMC
Trinity United Methodist Church is hosting a family movie night in the fellowship hall on Friday, July 28. The movie, “One Foot in Heaven,” starring Fredric March and Martha Scott, will begin at 6:15 p.m., with doors opening at 6.
Bring your favorite non-alcoholic beverage to enjoy with the free popcorn.

‘Noah’ coming to Woodland Church
Woodland Church is presenting the spectacular “Noah” by Sight & Sound Theater, Lancaster, Pa., on Thursday, August 3, at 7 p.m. The three-hour video presentation includes an intermission with light refreshments. A church spokesman said this is a wonderful opportunity to see this production at no cost – it’s the church’s gift to the community
