News from the Buchanan Food Pantry
The Buchanan Presbyterian Church Food Pantry will be open Saturday, June 8, from 9 till 11 a.m. hosted by the volunteers from Buchanan Baptist Church. They will distribute meat, bread, milk and staples at the curb. Anyone who needs food is welcome. The church is at 19559 Main Street, Buchanan.
If you grow vegetables and have extra to share, the Food Pantry clients would be most grateful to benefit from your excess. Please call 540-354-1537 to arrange for delivery. If you can’t get them to Buchanan, any food pantry near you would probably be happy to receive them.
“Fill the Porch to Save My Sheep” will be held June 15. Volunteers will be on hand from 9 a.m. till 2 p.m. to receive your gifts. Can we beat last year’s donations of 750 pounds of staples plus $1,000 in monetary donations?
Do you have stuff you want to be rid of, but don’t want to go to the bother of a yard sale? There will be a garage sale on the Buchanan Presbyterian Church property July 20 from 8 a.m. till 1 p.m. for the benefit of the Food Pantry. Donations can be left on the porch any Wednesday or Saturday between now and then.
Pleasant Hill food distribution June 8
Pleasant Hill Baptist Church will have food box distribution on Saturday, June 8, from 9-10:30 a.m. Food boxes will be available at the church on Country Club Road or the Eagle Rock Library.
First Baptist Church of Fincastle Homecoming June 16
The First Baptist Church of Fincastle will be celebrating Homecoming on Sunday, June 16, during the 11 a.m. service.
The guest minister that will be delivering God’s message will be Dr. Rev. William Bill Lee, retired pastor of Loudoun Avenue Christian Baptist Church, Roanoke. The Lapsley’s Run Baptist Church Choir will be rendering the music for this special service.
Dinner will be served directly after in the fellowship hall. Everyone is invited.
Shiloh Community Center available to hold events
The Shiloh Community Center is available for events. It is located on Shiloh Road across from Shiloh United Methodist Church, 519 Shiloh Road, Eagle Rock. Cloverdale Church of the Brethren Thrift Store
With summer around the corner, the Thrift Store has a large selection of shorts and capris for $1 and summer shoes for everyone, $1.The Thrift Store is open on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon. Donations are welcome.
Shiloh Cemetery needs donations
Shiloh Methodist Church Cemetery on Shiloh Road, Eagle Rock, is asking for those who have loved ones buried in the cemetery or own plots to give monetary donations to help with the upkeep of the cemetery. Expenses for gasoline, equipment and labor have gone up. If you have any questions, call 540-620-2625, or are interested in a final resting place. Donations are being accepted for the upkeep of the Mt. Bethel Church of the Brethren Cemetery. The cemetery is located on Rt. 43/Narrow Passage Road near Eagle Rock.

Troutville Baptist VBS
Every day is an adventure at “Breaker Rock Beach!” Troutville Baptist Church invites ages 4 through 12 to Vacation Bible School June 17-21, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., for music, crafts, snacks, Bible stories and recreation.
VBS kickoff is Saturday, June 15, in the church parking lot, noon to 2 p.m., with games, snacks, pre-registration and free giveaways.
St. Mark’s UMC VBS
St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Daleville invites children to get cooking at “Shake It Up Café: Where Kid’s Carry Out God’s Recipe” Vacation Bible School. The fun begins at St. Mark’s UMC, 19 Cedar Ridge Drive, on Monday, June 24, through Friday, June 28, from 9 a.m. to noon. Children, age 3 (who are toilet trained) through rising sixth graders, are invited to attend for Bible fun, crafts, hands-on mission projects, experiments in food science and great music.
