Lenten services at Buchanan churches
The Buchanan Area Ministerial Association (BAMA) is holding a series of Lenten services. Remaining services are:
- March 25 – Trinity United Methodist, noon, with Bob Copenhaver from Trinity Episcopal
- April 1 – Lithia Baptist, noon, with Doug Mitchell from Trinity and Lithia UMC
- April 8 – Buchanan Baptist, 6 p.m., with Dave Mucha from Virginia Presbyterian
Lenten services, lunches at Fincastle UMC
Fincastle United Methodist Church invites the public to Wednesday Lenten services and lunches in the Family Life Center, 137 S. Church Street, Fincastle. These 20-minute services begin at 12:05 p.m. and will be led by area pastors. A home-cooked lunch will follow each service. The service and meal are designed to last about one hour. Takeout meals will be available.
March 19 – The Rev. Dr. David Dickerson, Fincastle Presbyterian; Vegetable-Beef Soup, Potato Soup, Jello Salads, Grilled Cheese Sandwiches, Desserts
March 26 – Pastors Tom and Naomi Powers, Daleville Church of the Brethren; Chicken Salad Croissants, Vegetable Salad, Chips, Desserts
April 2 – Jake Webb, M.Div., St. Mark’s Episcopal; Potato Bar, Chili, Green Salad, Corn Bread, Desserts
March 20 – The Rev. Fr. Xavier Banasula, Church of the Transfiguration; Sub Sandwiches, Cole Slaw, Chips. Desserts
Menus are subject to change. If Botetourt County schools are closed because of inclement weather, the service will be canceled. Everyone is invited to these services during the season of Lent.
Fincastle Presbyterian Service of Prayer dates
Fincastle Presbyterian Church will be holding a Service of Prayer
for Wholeness and Healing at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26.
This special service of prayer, music, silence and scripture is an opportunity to gather in Christian community and draw closer to God and offer prayers for individuals, the community, the country and the world.
A light supper will be served in the fellowship hall after the service. All are invited. The church is located at 108 E. Back Street, Fincastle.
Cloverdale Thrift Store winter sale
Cloverdale Church of the Brethren Thrift Store has all winter apparel and shoes half-off. Donations are greatly appreciated. The store is open Saturdays, 9 to 12.
Daleville Baptist revival March 30-April 2
Kenny Grant of Savannah, Ga., will lead revival services at Daleville Baptist Church March 30-April 2. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 30, and at 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, April 1-2. Special music will be presented at each service. All are invited.
