Lunch, Easter Egg Hunt at Buchanan Baptist
A free lunch and Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday, March 23 at Buchanan Baptist Church. Lunch is from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. and the Easter Egg Hunt for preschool through fifth grade begins at 12:30 p.m.
Special services at Buchanan Presbyterian
Buchanan Presbyterian Church will host services of darkness and light next week. The Maundy Thursday service of darkness with communion will be Thursday, March 28 at 7 p.m., then celebrate the light on Easter Sunday at 11 a.m. All are invited and welcome at every service.
BAMA Sunrise Service, breakfast to follow
The Buchanan Area Ministerial Association (BAMA) Sunrise Service will be on March 31 at 7 a.m. at the Fairview Cemetery Pavilion. Pastor Darrell Naff of Buchanan Baptist will be speaking and a free breakfast will follow in the Buchanan Baptist Fellowship Hall.
Fincastle Presbyterian Holy Week services
Fincastle Presbyterian Church announces the following schedule of Holy Week services:
- Sunday, March 24 – Palm Sunday service at 10:30 a.m. – in person and live-streaming. Palm Sunday processional.
- Thursday, March 28 – Maundy Thursday Service at 7 p.m. Holy Communion, a Tenebrae Service of Shadows, special music by David Austin, Lori Turner and Lynne Bolton.
- March 31 – Easter Sunday – 10:30 a.m. – in person and live-streaming. Easter flowers, Easter music by The Back Street Ringers and Lynne Bolton and a service full of joy in the celebration of the Resurrection.

Sunrise Service at Galatia Presbyterian
Galatia Evangelical Presbyterian Church will have a Sunrise Service on Easter Sunday, March 31, at 7 a.m. at the front of the church. Bring flowers (real or artificial) to help decorate the cross after the service. There will be a potluck breakfast after the Sunrise Service. All are invited to attend and celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ
Woodland Church Easter celebration
This Easter, March 31, Woodland Church will celebrate the reality that Christ is Risen, and remember God’s Story, in which the Living Lord is the central character.
All are invited for breakfast at 9:45 a.m. and for the Easter Celebration Service at 10:30 to Praise the Lord in song, and Pastor Howard will present a message that covers the sweep of God’s Story from creation to consummation. God’s Story in His Own Words is a message consisting entirely of Scripture, presenting God’s plan of the ages, for the world and for each of us. St. Mark’s Choir to present cantata
The Chancel Choir of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, Daleville, will present the cantata, “The Weeping Tree,” on Sunday, March 24 at 10 a.m. This presentation is a profoundly moving work for Holy Week – a poignant portrait of the cross that uses beloved hymns, newly composed music, thoughtful narration, and simple sacred symbols to create a touching testament of grace. All in the community are invited. “The Weeping Tree” was written by Joseph Martin, a premier composer of sacred church music. The Chancel Choir is directed by Deborah Wiley and accompanied by Cara Hubbard.
Pleasant Hill Baptist Church news
On March 23 at 11 a.m., PHBC will host the annual Easter Egg Hunt for children ages toddler-5th grade. There will be a separate egg hunt for littles. Refreshments will be provided and the Easter Bunny will be available for pictures.

Fincastle UMC Lenten services
Fincastle United Methodist Church invites you to Wednesday Lenten services and lunches in the Family Life Center, 137 S. Church Street, Fincastle. These short, 20-minute services begin at 12:05 p.m. and will be led by area pastors. A home-cooked lunch will follow each service. The service and meal are designed to last about one hour. Takeout meals will be available.

Menus are subject to change. If Botetourt County Public Schools are closed because of inclement weather, the service will be canceled. Everyone is invited to these services during the season of Lent.
Clearance sale at Cloverdale Thrift Store
Cloverdale Church of the Brethren Thrift Store is having a winter clearance sale. All clothing (for men, women, children) is half off the original price and shoes are 25 cents a pair. All books (hardback and paperback) are 10 cents each. Sale runs through April 13. Hours are Saturdays, 9 to 12; donations are appreciated.
Easter events at St. Mark’s UMC
St. Mark’s United Methodist Church will be hosting a community-wide Easter event on Saturday, March 30 from 9-11 a.m. There will be a “Breakfast with the Easter Bunny” from 9-10:30 a.m. During this time, there will be activities for the children and pictures with the Easter Bunny. The cost of breakfast is: children under 3, free; children 3-1, $6; and children 12-adults, $12. Proceeds from the breakfast will benefit the TAME–“Rise Against Hunger” meal packing event. Other donations for this ministry will also be accepted. You can pay for your breakfasts at the door.
At 10:30, there will be an Easter Egg Hunt and other fun Easter-themed activities. This part of the event is free to those who attend.

The Joyful Journey Club at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church is planning a trip to the South: Savannah, Golden Isles, and Beaufort –Three Belles of the South; 5 days/4 nights, June 17-21; $723 per person, double occupancy; $922 per person, single occupancy.
