Second Saturday Lunch at Solomon’s Mission
Solomon’s Mission will have its Second Saturday Lunch on May 13, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The lunch will consist of barbecue, mac-n- cheese, baked beans, dessert and water. The lunch is provided by Mt. Bethel Church of the Brethren.
Eagle Rock Clothes Closet open Wednesday, Saturday
The Clothes Closet at Eagle Rock United Methodist Church will be open Wednesday, May 10, 5-6:30 p.m.; and Saturday, May 13, 9 a.m.-noon. Free clothing will be available to men, women and children. Two locations for Pleasant Hill Baptist Food Box Ministry
Pleasant Hill Baptist Church is hosting a Food Box Ministry this Saturday, May 13, from 9 until 10:30 a.m. The church also will have a satellite pick up location at the Eagle Rock Library on the same day and time.
To pick up a box of food, stop by the church or library on Saturday and a team of volunteers will load the box in your car and if you wish someone will gladly pray with you.
This ministry operates on the second Saturday of each month, weather permitting. Anyone in need may stop by and receive a free box of food. For more information, call the church office at 540-992-5556.
Food Pantry in Buchanan open Saturday
The Buchanan Presbyterian Church Food Pantry will be open from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, May 13. The Buchanan Lions Club will be serving those in need in Botetourt County. The church is located at 19559 Main Street, Buchanan. The Food Pantry is open on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month.
Springwood Food Pantry open May 20
The Springwood Baptist Food Pantry will be open on Saturday, May 20 from 9-10:30 a.m. The pantry is located at 88 Copps Hill Road, Buchanan. This pantry is a drive-through pantry, so clients may remain in their cars and volunteers will load the food for them.
The pantry is open each month on the third Saturday from 9-10:30 a.m. It is a partner with Feeding America Southwest Virginia and anyone in need of food is invited.
Souper Sunday, new pastor at New Beginnings
All are welcome to attend Souper Sunday at New Beginnings Church on Sunday, May 21, and meet the new pastor. The meet-and-greet will be held immediately after church services. The church is on Narrow Passage Road, Buchanan.
Mother’s Day Tea at St. Mark’s
The TAME (That All May Eat) Ministry at St. Mark’s United Methodist will host their Third Annual Mother’s Day Tea on Saturday, May 20 from 11:30 to 1:30. Proceeds from this event will go towards packing 10,000 meals for the Rise Against Hunger Meal Packing this September.
Dine in the Tea Room atmosphere and make it an event to remember with family or friends. Traditional High Tea Fair is offered. If you choose to take a tea box to go, just drive up and the order will be put in your car.
Prices are: 1 order-$20; 2 orders-$36; 3 orders-$48; 4 orders-$60. Five or more orders are $15 each. To order, go to the St. Mark’s UMC website, stmarksmethodist.com, or call the church at 540-992-3030. You pay at the door, but you need to sign up to reserve your spot.
Cloverdale Brethren Thrift Store has summer clothes
The Cloverdale Church of the Brethren Thrift Store now has spring and summer clothes for the family. The shop has a large selection of capris, shorts, summer dresses and shirts. Men’s shirts and pants and children’s clothes are also available. Hours are Saturdays, 9 to 12. Donations are always welcome.
The Food Pantry is open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Shiloh Cemetery needs donations
Shiloh Methodist Church Cemetery on Shiloh Road, Eagle Rock, is asking for those who have loved ones buried in the cemetery or own plots to give monetary donations to help with the upkeep of the cemetery. Expenses for gasoline, equipment and labor have gone up. If you have any questions, call 540-620-2625, or are interested in a final resting place.
