Free Brunch With Santa at Fincastle UMC
Fincastle United Methodist Church invites area families to Free Brunch With Santa from 10 a.m.-noon on Saturday, Dec. 10, in the Family Life Center, 137 S. Church Street. Bring a new, unwrapped toy to be donated to Toys for Tots and your name will be entered into win a goody-filled stocking from Santa.
Extended hours at Solomon’s Thrift Store
The Solomon’s Mission Thrift Store on Lowe Street, Buchanan, will be open every Thursday in December from 11 a.m.-4 p.m., in addition to regular hours.
Mill Creek Christmas Bazaar Dec. 3
Mill Creek Baptist Christmas Bazaar is Saturday, Dec. 3 from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. There will be breakfast beginning at 8 in the fellowship hall. Also, White Elephant Sale, baked goods and hand-made items will be available.
Kids will be able to visit with Santa beginning at 10 and will also have a chance to visit Santa’s Workshop. Santa’s workshop is a place where kids can shop for family and friends. All items are $1.
Lunch will also available. Mill Creek is located at 11475 Lee Highway, Fincastle.
Cloverdale Thrift Store stocked for Christmas
The Cloverdale Church of the Brethren Thrift Store has lots of Christmas decorations, Christmas sweaters, toys, and a large selection of winter coats. It is open from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturdays. Donations are welcome.
Lessons and Carols Service Sunday
Fincastle Presbyterian Church is celebrating the Christmas season with a service of Lessons and Carols on Sunday, Dec. 4 at 10:30 a.m.
After the service there will be a potluck lunch in the fellowship hall. Those wishing to participate may bring their food items to the downstairs fellowship hall before the 10:30 service.
All are invited to join in this celebratory service.
Buchanan Presbyterian sponsoring ‘Feed My Sheep’ in parade
Buchanan Presbyterian Church is entering a float, “Feed My Sheep,” in the Buchanan Christmas Parade on December 10. Parade watchers are asked to help those who are in need of food by bringing cereal with them to the parade to donate to the Buchanan Presbyterian Food Pantry. “Sheep” will collect the boxes of cereal for the Food Pantry along the parade route. The parade begins at 4 p.m. on December 10.

- O Holy Bright Drive-Thru Christmas Lights: It’s that time of year again for the third annual Drive Thru Christmas Lights event Dec. 2-4, Dec. 9-11, Dec. 16-18 and Dec. 24 from 5:30 to 9:30.
- It’s a big dill…Pickleball has arrived. Come join the fun in St. Mark’s Family Life Center. First and fourth Mondays of the month, 5-7 p.m.; second and third Mondays of the month, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.; fifth Monday, no pickleball. Inclement weather schedule: if schools are closed, the gym is closed. Cost: Donations (for facility use, electricity and equipment replacement).

Special services at Pleasant Hill
Pleasant Hill Baptist has a new program just for kids! It’s called BLAST! (Believe Learn And Seek Truth). It is open to ages 6 to 12 years. They will meet every other Sunday downstairs. The class will be led by Sandra Krochta. They will be dismissed from the sanctuary during the Welcome & Announcement time. The dates for the rest of this year are December 4 and 18.
Pleasant Hill Baptist will be hosting a Christmas Celebration, “A Night Like No Other,” on Sunday, Dec. 11 at 11 a.m.
Pleasant Hill Baptist will hold a Christmas Day service on December 25 at 10 a.m.

Evening of Prayer at Solomon’s Mission
Solomon’s Mission on Lowe Street in Buchanan is holding an Evening of Prayer on Friday, Dec. 2, from 4 p.m. until midnight.
A news release from Solomon’s Mission says, “With all of the hurt, pain, suffering, anger, separation and loss that’s going on in this world right now, we thought we could all use some prayer.
“Please come and join us at Solomon’s on December 2 for a time of prayer. This is a time where you can come and pray or be prayed with. There will be a prayer board available for those who want to leave a note for others to pray for the specific need.
“If you or church family feel led to come and be available to pray with others or just to be available for someone please feel free to do so. This is open to anyone and no one too young or to old.”
Cedar Bluff to celebrate 90th anniversary
Cedar Bluff Baptist Church in Buchanan will celebrate the 90th anniversary of the church on Sunday, Dec. 11, at 11 a.m. David Austin will present special music and the history of the church will be read. Interim Pastor Mike Woody will have a brief message. Lunch will be served afterward. Former members and the public are invited.
