Buchanan Food Pantry open Saturday
The Buchanan Presbyterian Church Food Pantry will be open Saturday, Oct. 25, from 9:30 till 11 a.m. Mill Creek Baptist Church volunteers will assist clients at curbside with meat and staples. Anyone in need of food is welcome. The church is at 19559 Main Street, Buchanan.
Springwood Baptist Church BBQ dinner
Springwood Baptist Church is hosting its annual pork BBQ dinner on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 4-6 p.m. at the church, 88 Copps Hill Road, Buchanan.
Each dinner costs $12 and includes: two pork barbecue sandwiches (Aaron’s Smokehouse special sauce), coleslaw, baked beans and a drink. Desserts will be available for an additional charge. All proceeds will go toward church repairs.
This will be a takeout-only event held in the church fellowship hall. No tickets will be sold in advance, and no reservations are required. Aaron’s Smokehouse dinners will be served on a first-come, first-served basis while supply lasts.
Lapsleys Run Homecoming, Anniversary
Lapsleys Run Baptist Church will celebrate the annual Harvest Homecoming and 157th Church Anniversary on Sunday, Nov. 9, beginning at 11 a.m. The church’s own Brother Edgar Freeman will be the speaker.
Dinner will be served after the morning service.
The 157th Church Anniversary service will begin at 2 p.m. The guest speaker will be the Rev. McKinley Williams of First Baptist Church, Lexington.
Everyone is welcome to these and all services at Lapsleys Run Baptist Church. Regular services are held on the second and fourth Sundays of each month at 11 a.m. The church is located at 608 Zion Hill Road, Fincastle.
Cloverdale Thrift Store has fall clothes
Fall apparel has arrived at Cloverdale Church of the Brethren’s Thrift Store –
a large of selection of fall and winter clothing and shoes. The store also has a large selection of Halloween costumes and fall decorations. Gently used donations are welcome. The store is open Saturdays, 9 to 12.
Eagle Rock Community Trunk or Treat
Local churches in Eagle Rock are sponsoring a Community Trunk or Treat from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31. It will be held in the parking lot of Eagle Rock United Methodist Church.
Community Clothes Closet at Eagle Rock
The Eagle Rock Community Clothes Closet at 14565 Church Street, Eagle Rock, will be open Saturdays, Nov. 1 and 15, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon; also on Wednesday, Nov. 5, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. It has ladies’, men’s and children’s clothing, as well as shoes, household items and toys, all at no charge. Bags are provided and please honor the bag limit posted.

Election Prayer Service in Buchanan
Buchanan Presbyterian Church will host a Community Prayer Service on the Sunday night before Election Day: Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. All are invited to pray for current and future elected leaders, near and far, and for others who serve their community and country.
