Buchanan Food Pantry open Saturday

The Buchanan Presbyterian Church Food Pantry will be open Saturday, October 26, from 9 a.m. till 11 a.m. at the church, 19559 Main Street, Buchanan. Hosts will be volunteers from Buchanan Presbyterian who will distribute meat, bread, milk and staples at curbside. Anyone in need of food is welcome.

 

Yard sale at Mill Creek Baptist

An indoor yard sale to benefit the Dominican Republic Mission Team at Mill Creek Baptist Church will be held Friday, October 25, 5-8 p.m., with supper available for purchase. It will continue Saturday, October 26, 8 a.m.-1 p.m., with both breakfast and lunch for sale.

 

Trinity UMC celebration October 26

Everyone is invited to join Trinity United Methodist Church for the 100th anniversary celebration of the reconstruction of the church building. Activities will begin at 10 a.m. and last until 2 p.m. on the church grounds at 19637 Main Street, Buchanan on Saturday, October 26. Activities will include games, free food, music and other surprises.

 

Free dinner at Fincastle UMC Tuesday

Everyone is welcome to the free Terrific Tuesdays Church and Community Dinner at Fincastle United Methodist Church’s Family Life Center, located at 137 S. Church Street, on Tuesday, October 29.  Dinner will be served from 5:30-7 p.m.

 

Eagle Rock Clothes Closet dates

The Eagle Rock Community Clothes Closet at Eagle Rock United Methodist Church, 14565 Church Street, will be open Saturdays, November 2 and 9 from 9 a.m. to 12 Noon, and Wednesday, November 6 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Women’s, men’s and children’s clothing, as well as shoes and toys, will be available at no charge. To make donations or volunteer to help with this mission, contact Pastor Ray Sandifer at 540-525-0258.

 

Trunk or Treat in Eagle Rock October 26

There will be a Trunk or Treat event in the parking lot of Eagle Rock United Methodist Church on Saturday, October 26 from 4 to 6 p.m., sponsored by local churches. Anyone interested in participating may contact Pastor Ray Sandifer, 540-525-0258.

 

Daleville Baptist Fall Festival, Trunk or Treat

All are invited to the Fall Festival and Trunk or Treat October 27, 3-5 p.m., at Daleville Baptist Church, 375 Orchard Drive, Daleville.
All activities are free and include a bounce house, hayride, face painting, games, hot dogs and lots of candy.

 

‘Halloweenies’ at Fincastle UMC October 31

Fincastle United Methodist Church invites trick-or-treaters and their families to the annual “Halloweenies” event on Thursday, Oct. 31, from 6-8 p.m. Let the church help feed you on this fun, festive, and time-limited evening. There will be free hot dogs, chips, lemonade, and hot chocolate. All children will receive treat bags. Feel free to come in costume.

 

Trunk or Treat at Troutville Brethren

The Troutville Church of the Brethren is hosting Trunk or Treat on October 31 from 5-7 p.m. The church is located at 5133 Lee Highway in Troutville.

Upcoming concert at Pleasant Hill Baptist

Pleasant Hill Baptist Church will host the Gospel Harmony Boys, a West Virginia-based gospel group, on Sunday, November 3 at 11 a.m. All are invited to worship at Pleasant Hill – gospel-style.

 

Election Eve Community Prayer Service

Buchanan Presbyterian Church is hosting a non-partisan Prayer Service from 7-7:30 p.m. on Monday, November 4. All are invited to come pray together for leaders, localities, and the next day’s elections. The church is located at 19559 Main Street in Buchanan.

 

Pork BBQ Dinner at Springwood Baptist

Springwood Baptist Church’s Annual Pork BBQ Dinner, sponsored by Aaron’s Smokehouse, will be held Saturday, October 26, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the church, 88 Copps Hill Road, Buchanan.

Each meal, priced at $12, includes two pork barbecue sandwiches, coleslaw, baked beans, and a drink. Desserts will be available for an additional charge.

This is a takeout-only event, with meals available on a first-come, first-served basis. No pre-sold tickets or reservations will be accepted. The public is invited.

 

Homecoming at Lapsleys Run November 10

Lapsleys Run Baptist Church will celebrate the annual Harvest Homecoming and 156th Church Anniversary on Sunday, November 10. The morning service will begin at 11 a.m.  Brother Edgar Freeman will be the speaker. Dinner will follow.
The afternoon service will begin at 2 p.m. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Dwight Steele, Sr., who will be accompanied by the choir and congregation from Pilgrim Baptist Church of Roanoke.
Everyone is invited to attend these and regular services on the second and fourth Sundays of each month at Lapsleys Run Baptist Church, 608 Zion Hill Road, Fincastle.

 

Donations requested for Springwood Cemetery repair

Springwood Baptist Church has approved a contract of $5,000 for stonework in the “old” cemetery. Approximately 29 marked stones will be straightened and leveled, along with reassembling many broken stones.

The church respectfully requests donations to this project. Please send donations to: Springwood Baptist Church, c/o Gary Peery, 234 Peery Lane, Buchanan, 24066. In memo of check, state Cemetery Repair.

 

Sale at Cloverdale Thrift Store

Cloverdale Church of the Brethren Thrift Store has a large selection of sweaters and jackets for the entire family. Start Christmas decorating early– the store has lots of antique and collectible ornaments available. Hours are 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Saturday. Donations are greatly appreciated.
