Rally Day is this Sunday at Buchanan Presbyterian
Buchanan Presbyterian Church will hold the 2022-2023 Rally Day program on Sunday, September 11 at 9 a.m., beginning with a covered dish breakfast in the fellowship hall.
Following the breakfast, the children will go to their new class with background checked approved teachers. The adults will preview their new curriculum by Adam Hamilton on “Living Unafraid” and “The Lord’s Prayer.” Sunday School classes will be held beginning at 9:30 a.m. each Sunday to follow. New hours for Cloverdale Thrift Shop
The Cloverdale Church of the Brethren Thrift Shop has a large selection of fall and winter clothes for the entire family. New winter hours starting September 12 will be 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. Donations are welcomed.
Springwood Food Pantry open on September 17
The Springwood Baptist Food Pantry will be open on Saturday, September 17 from 9-10:30 a.m. The pantry is located at 88 Copps Hill Road, Buchanan. This pantry is a drive through pantry, so clients may remain in their cars and volunteers will load the food for them.
Clients are asked to remain in their cars and food orders will be delivered to them. Additionally, clients are asked to wear masks when volunteers approach the vehicle.
The pantry is open each month on the third Saturday from 9-10:30 a.m. It is a partner with Feeding America Southwest Virginia and anyone in need of food is invited.
Consignment sale at Bonsack Baptist
Bonsack Baptist Preschool Consignment Sale is Saturday, September 10, 8 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Bonsack Baptist Church CLC, 4845 Cloverdale Road, Roanoke. The sale will offer over 100,000 consignment items ranging from infant to teens, even for moms to be. Admission is free. For more information, go to

Community Luncheon at Galatia Presbyterian
You are invited to an end of summer potluck Community Luncheon at Galatia Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 78 Gala Loop Road, Eagle Rock, on September 12 at 12 noon. Chicken salad croissants and drinks will be furnished by the church. Bring your favorite salad or dessert to share and come enjoy the fellowship.
Springwood Baptist Homecoming in September
Springwood Baptist Church invites you to the 190th Homecoming Anniversary on Sunday, September 18.
Homecoming worship service will be from 10:30 a.m. until noon, led by Pastor Mike Anderson, with special music during worship by Carrington Kay and a special appearance by Lilac the Clown. There will be a potluck lunch, so bring a dish or two to share. After lunch, Carrington Kay will bring more special music in the church sanctuary. There will be no Sunday School that morning.

GriefShare begins again at St. Mark’s UMC
GriefShare is a small support group offering hope and encouragement for those who have lost someone they love through death. It doesn’t matter how recent or how long ago your loss happened, this program offers help when traveling this difficult journey of grief. The program consists of a workbook, video and small group discussion that offer compassion, confidentiality and sharing with others who understand.
St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Daleville began the fall cycle of classes on August 25. There are 13 weeks of classes to be held in person in the fellowship hall, with enough space to allow for Covid protocols of masks and distancing for participants as they are comfortable. There will be two sessions to choose from: 10-11:30 a.m., or 6:30-8 p.m. Open enrolment for any session allows for those who could not begin on August. 25.
