Fincastle Methodists add youth staffer
Mykala Sauls, a recent graduate of Liberty University, has joined the staff of Fincastle United Methodist Church as its director of youth ministry. She holds a B.S. degree in psychology and criminal justice and is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors. For the past five years she has worked at a church with young persons with disabilities. She is married to Michael Smith,
During July, Fincastle United Methodist will suspend its usual Sunday morning program for 9 Sunday school and worship at 10 in order to permit its early and later service worshipers to get to know each other. The usual services at 9 and 11 a.m. will be resumed in August.
Springwood Food Pantry
The Springwood Baptist Food Pantry will be open on June 7 and 21 from 10 a.m. until noon. Additionally, Feeding America Southwest Virginia’s produce delivery vehicle, the “Veggie Mobile,” will be onsite on June 7 to distribute fresh fruits and vegetables to community members in need free of charge. This program is part of the food bank’s Mobile Produce Program. Stop by and take advantage of this valuable opportunity to get fresh, healthy produce. In the future, the “Veggie Mobile” will visit the Springwood Baptist Food Pantry on the first Wednesday of each month at 10 a.m.

Vespers at Limestone Park Sunday
Limestone Park Ministries invites the public to Vespers Service at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday evenings at the park. On June 11, Pat Shotwell will be sharing a devotion and Kevin Austin will provide music. Summer revival services will be held at Lithia Baptist Church Sunday through Wednesday, June 11-14 with Evangelist Roger Roller. Services will be held at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday, June 11 and at 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. All are welcome.
PleasantDale spaghetti dinner June 17
PleasantDale Church of the Brethren on Breckinridge Mill Road will have a spaghetti dinner from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 17. Spaghetti, salad, bread and a drink is $8 for adults and $4 for children. Desserts are extra. A Cowboy Service will follow. All are invited.
First Baptist of Fincastle Homecoming
The First Baptist Church of Fincastle will celebrate “Homecoming 2017” on Sunday, June 18 at 3 p.m. The guest preacher who will be delivering the homecoming sermon is the Rev. Richard A. Goodman Sr., pastor of First Missionary Baptist Church New River, His choir and congregation will accompany him. Dinner will be served directly after the morning service. Everyone is welcome. Fine Arts Camp for Children
Wellspring Presbyterian Church in Daleville is having a Fine Arts Camp for Children, from age 4 through rising sixth graders, June 20-23.
Theater, guitar, dance, art, textile arts, games, Bible, singing and percussion classes will be held Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, June 20-22 from 6-8 p.m. There will be a BBQ dinner and closing program for the entire family on Friday, June 23 at 6 p.m.
The cost of $15 per child with a $30 maximum per family. The cost includes all materials, a camp T-shirt, snacks and Friday night dinner for the entire family.

Mt. Pleasant UMC ice cream supper
Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church (White Church) will hold its annual ice dream supper fundraiser on Saturday, June 24, beginning at 5 p.m. Available will be plate lunches (choice of chicken or ham), hot dogs with homemade chili, homemade desserts and ice cream. All are invited. To reach Mt. Pleasant, turn on Old Fincastle Road just outside of Fincastle, go past the Brian Center (Kissito), left onto Mt. Pleasant Church Road and follow signs to the church.
Vendors sought to Craft Expo
Bonsack Baptist Church is accepting Christmas vendor applications for its first Craft Expo, scheduled on Saturday, Nov. 4. Applications are available online at bonsackbaptist.org/event. Vendors, yard salers and consultants are needed for Solomon’s Mission Christmas in July event on July 15 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tables/spots are available for $15 each. Brethren choose interim associate
The Rev. Tabitha H. Rudy has been chosen interim associate executive minister for the Virlina District of the Church of the Brethren. Temporarily succeeding the Rev. Emma Jean Woodard who has retired, Rudy will work with the Rev. Dr. David Shumate, district executive for more than 20 years. Shumate indicated that Rudy will be eligible for the position permanently.
Currently a member of Ninth Street Church of the Brethren in Southeast Roanoke, Rudy is from Franklin County. Following her graduation from Ferrum College with further study at Hollins University, Rudy taught history on the high school level and was active with Camp Bethel Conference Center. She served as a summer pastor at the Williamson Road Church of the Brethren and has just been graduated from Bethany Theological Seminary. The distric,t with headquarters in Roanoke, covers the southern portion of Virginia and a small area of North Carolina and West Virginia.
