Cloverdale Church of the Brethren Thrift Shop
The thrift shop has a large selection gifts for Mother’s Day. It also has lots of spring and summer clothes for the entire family and handbags for all occasions. Women’s shorts and capri pants are just $1. The shop is open each Saturday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Month-long sale at Solomon’s Mission
Solomon’s Mission in Buchanan, as a thank you to the community for its support, will have a sale the whole month of May– buy one bag of clothing get one free.
It is open every Monday and Saturday, 9 a.m.-noon.
Fincastle UMC chicken barbecue
Fincastle United Methodist Church will have a chicken barbecue dinner Saturday, May 13. It will be held from 4-7 p.m. at the VFW Hall, 4902 Roanoke Road, Daleville. The menu is half a barbecued chicken with Percy Bolton’s special sauce, homemade potato salad, baked apples, roll and drink. Homemade desserts will be available for purchase. Tickets are $10 and must be purchased in advance by calling 473-2969.

Hymn sing May 14 at Galatia Presbyterian
The monthly Northern Botetourt Hymn Sing will be at Galatia Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 78 Gala Loop Road, Eagle Rock, on Sunday, May 14 at 7 p.m. Everyone is invited to come for a time of sharing in songs and hymns followed by a time of refreshments and fellowship.”
LuLaRoe fundraiser at Wheatland
There will be a LuLaRoe fundraiser for Youth Ministry at Wheatland Lutheran Church (1560 Wheatland Road, Buchanan) on Saturday, May 13 from 3-5 p.m. LuLaRoe is a modern line of girls and women’s clothing with sizes ranging from kids 2T-14 and women’s XXS to 3XL. The clothing comes in a variety of different fabrics, prints, and styles There will be over 1,500 pieces available to try on, purchase and take home that day–several styles of dresses, skirts, shirts, and the buttery soft leggings. A portion of each sale will go toward the youth attending the 2018 ELCA Youth Gathering in Houston, Texas.
Sharing God’s Grace meets May 16
Bingo will be the program for the May meeting of Sharing God’s Grace at Wheatland Lutheran Church. The meeting will begin at noon on Tuesday, May 16 with lunch served by the ladies of the church. Bingo will follow lunch and small prizes will be awarded to the winning cards. The community is invited to enjoy a few hours of fellowship, good food, and an entertaining game of bingo. Troutville Baptist VBS

Mt. Pleasant UMC ice cream supper
Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church (White Church) will hold its annual ice dream supper fundraiser on Saturday, June 24, beginning at 5 p.m. Available will be plate lunches (choice of chicken or ham), hot dogs with homemade chili, homemade desserts and ice cream. All are invited. To reach Mt. Pleasant, turn on Old Fincastle Road just outside of Fincastle, go past the Brian Center (Kissito), left onto Mt. Pleasant Church Road and follow signs to the church.
