Bonsack United Methodist hosts Summer Kick-Off
Bonsack United Methodist Church, located at 4493 Bonsack Road, Roanoke, invites the public to attend a Summer Kick-Off on Sunday, May 28. A single worship service will be held at 10:15 a.m., followed by the outdoor event beginning at 11:15 a.m. There will be bounce castles and obstacle courses for the kids, games, a food truck rodeo, and live music by the Chris Spradling Band. Vesper service at Limestone Park
Limestone Park will have a vesper service on Sundays at 7:30 p.m. Each service will be led by a different person with a short devotional type message, a few songs and a time of prayer for community concerns. The public is invited to attend. Speaker for May 27 will be Luke Winand from Mill Creek Baptist Church. This week’s service will be held in the pavilion.
Brethren pastor leaving position
The Rev. Douglas E.O. Veal, pastor of Daleville Church of the Brethren since 2011, will leave the position at the end of September. He has not announced his plans. A staff member of the Virlina District office in Roanoke said a successor is expected to be named soon for the Rev. Emma Jean Woodard, who left earlier this month for retirement after 17 years as associate district executive.
Springwood Food Pantry
The Springwood Baptist Food Pantry will be open on June 7 and 21 from 10 a.m. until noon. Additionally, Feeding America Southwest Virginia’s produce delivery vehicle, the “Veggie Mobile,” will be onsite on June 7 to distribute fresh fruits and vegetables to community members in need free of charge. This program is part of the food bank’s Mobile Produce Program. Stop by and take advantage of this valuable opportunity to get fresh, healthy produce. In the future, the “Veggie Mobile” will visit the Springwood Baptist Food Pantry on the first Wednesday of each month at 10 a.m.

‘Walk Thru the Pentateuch’ at Colonial
Colonial Baptist Church in Blue Ridge invites the public to the 10-week summer series “Walk Thru the Pentateuch” with Bruce Wilkinson.
The Wednesday evening series begins May 31 with a church-wide meal at 6:30 p.m. each Wednesday, followed by “Walk Thru the Pentateuch” at 7 p.m. A workbook is available, but not required, at a cost of $10. Contact the church before May 21 to order a workbook.
The first five books of the Bible contain some of the most fascinating stories about God and His people. In “Walk Thru the Pentateuch,” participants will discover the truth about the God of the Old Testament, the tenderness of His affection, the heights of His holiness, and the selflessness of His mercy.
This is an opportunity to really understand the books all too often overlooked.
In addition to this weekly series for adults, the church is offering summer programs for teens and children.

First Baptist yard, bake sales
The First Baptist Church of Fincastle Missionary Ministry will be sponsoring a flea market and bake sale on Saturday, June 3, from 6:30 a.m.-2 p.m. The flea market will take place on the church grounds located at 6529 Blue Ridge Turnpike, Fincastle. Fine Arts Camp for Children
Wellspring Presbyterian Church in Daleville is having a Fine Arts Camp for Children, from age 4 through rising sixth graders, June 20-23.
Theater, guitar, dance, art, textile arts, games, Bible, singing and percussion classes will be held Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, June 20-22 from 6-8 p.m. There will be a BBQ dinner and closing program for the entire family on Friday, June 23 at 6 p.m.
The cost of $15 per child with a $30 maximum per family. The cost includes all materials, a camp T-shirt, snacks and Friday night dinner for the entire family.

Mt. Pleasant UMC ice cream supper
Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church (White Church) will hold its annual ice dream supper fundraiser on Saturday, June 24, beginning at 5 p.m. Available will be plate lunches (choice of chicken or ham), hot dogs with homemade chili, homemade desserts and ice cream. All are invited. To reach Mt. Pleasant, turn on Old Fincastle Road just outside of Fincastle, go past the Brian Center (Kissito), left onto Mt. Pleasant Church Road and follow signs to the church.

Bonsack Baptist Church is accepting Christmas vendor applications for its first Craft Expo, scheduled on Saturday, Nov. 4. Applications are available online at bonsackbaptist.org/event. The Craft Expo will be held in the church’s new Community Life Center at 4845 Cloverdale Road, Roanoke.
Mt. Joy Sunday School picnic June 4
Mt. Joy Church of the Brethren will have its Sunday School picnic on June 4. Dress in “old-fashioned” clothes. All are invited to bring a dish to join in. Sunday School is at 10 a.m. and worship at 11. Lunch will be served at noon. The church is located at 2565 Buffalo Road, Buchanan.
