Pierce Chapel yard sale Sept. 30
Pierce Chapel United Methodist Church is holding a yard sale on Saturday, Sept. 30 at the church on Timber Ridge Road. Each space is $5 on a first-come, first-choice basis. Sellers must provide their own tables.
Baked goods will be available. Beginning at 10:30 a.m., the church will provide grilled hot dogs at no cost to all visitors.

Colonial Baptist Fall Festival Saturday
Colonial Baptist Church in Blue Ridge is holding its annual Community Fall Festival this Saturday, Sept. 30 from 3:30-7 p.m. The public is invited.
There will be free dinners and programs at 4:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. in the Faith Center.
The Orange Family will also provide live music on the grounds (bring your lawn chairs) where there will be horse rides, hayrides, moonwalk, American Ninja Warrior course, “The Science Guy,” photo booth, game booths, balloon sculptures, face painting, snow cones, and other activities.

Buchanan Presbyterian welcoming interim pastor
Buchanan Presbyterian Church will celebrate World Wide Communion Sunday on October 1 as the congregation welcomes its new interim pastor, the Rev. Skip Hastings.

Study of medieval church history at Woodland
A study of medieval church history will be offered as an adult Sunday School class at woodland Church beginning at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 1.
This study includes a detailed look at the structure and design of 12th and 13 century Gothic cathedrals. Learn how the medieval church used art and architecture to communicate theology to the illiterate masses.
This course utilizes two video teaching services featuring Dr. W. Robert Godfrey and Professor William R. Cook.

Buchanan Baptist honoring Woody
Buchanan Baptist Church will honor former Pastor Mike Woody on Sunday, Oct. 8 by bestowing to him the title of Pastor Emeritus.
Woody served the church as pastor for 23 years, longer than any pastor before him, before retiring in late 2015. The special service will begin at 11 a.m. followed by a potluck luncheon. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Cave Rock Baptist Homecoming
Cave Rock Baptist Church, Troutville, will have Homecoming on Sunday, Oct. 8. Sunday School will begin at 10 a.m. and the worship service at 11 a.m. with interim Pastor John Graybill. The church will provide dinner for all after the service.
St. Mark’s spaghetti dinner
St. Mark’s Episcopal Church will hold its 22nd Annual Italian Night Spaghetti Dinner at the Fincastle Firehouse on Saturday, Oct. 7 from 4-7 p.m. The Italian Night theme will be portrayed in table and wall decorations. The meal cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children 6-12. There is no charge for children under 6 years of age. The meal includes a full portion of homemade spaghetti, salad, garlic bread sticks, lemonade, ice tea, and a variety of homemade desserts. Meals will be available for take-out.
Tickets can be purchased in advance at the St. Mark’s Ministry Center office at 221 S. Roanoke Street in Fincastle and from church members or may be purchased at the door. Proceeds from the event go to outreach ministries in the local Fincastle and Botetourt County area. The event, which is put on by the Episcopal Men’s Fellowship of St. Mark’s, brings together a large part of the local Fincastle and surrounding community. Yard sale at Mill Creek
Mill Creek Baptist Church is having a yard sale Saturday, Oct. 7 from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. There will be breakfast, lunch and a bake sale as well.
All proceeds benefit the 2018 Mission Team to the Dominican Republic.
Veggie Mobile at Springwood Food Pantry Oct. 4
The Springwood Baptist Food Pantry will be open on October 4 and October 18 from 10 a.m. until noon. Additionally, Feeding America Southwest Virginia’s produce delivery vehicle, the “Veggie Mobile,” will be onsite on October 4 to distribute fresh fruits and vegetables to community members in need free of charge. This program is part of the food bank’s Mobile Produce Program. Please stop by and take advantage of this valuable opportunity to get fresh, healthy produce. In the future, the “Veggie Mobile” will visit the Springwood Baptist Food Pantry on the first Wednesday of each month at 10 a.m.
