Three Botetourt County swim teams will compete in the annual Roanoke Valley Aquatic Association “City-County” swim meet at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center this weekend.
Read Mountain, Ashley Plantation and Limestone Park will be among the 14 teams competing in three size classifications.
The meet will be held over two days, on Friday and Saturday, July 19 and 20. On both days events for 10 and under swimmers will be in the morning, beginning at 8 a.m., with the older swimmers competing in the afternoon, beginning at 1 p.m. Friday events include the Backstroke, Short Freestyle, Individual Medley and Freestyle Relays. Saturday will be the Butterfly, Breaststroke, Long Freestyle and Medley Relays.
The Hunting Hills Country Club is the defending RVAA champion and heavily favored to win again, although Read Mountain and Ashley Plantation both have competitive teams. Hunting Hills has won the last six RVAA championship and 13 of the last 15 titles, with Stonegate Swim Club winning in 2011 and ’12. Read Mountain, Ashley Plantation and Stonegate will likely be battling for second place this weekend behind the Hound Dogs.
