Born on November 21, 1930, she lived a life centered on faith, family, and a deep love for those around her. She is lovingly survived by her daughters, Phyllis Clark Spencer (Mark) and Teresa Clark Lester (Ronnie); her sisters, Doris Hodges Rhodes (Allen) and Josephine Hodges Perkins (Jackie); and numerous nieces and nephews. Elsie was a proud and devoted grandmother to Ryan Clodfelter (girlfriend Madeline Dix), David Clodfelter (Mary Catherine), Amber Lester, Chase Lester, and honorary granddaughter Rose Hensley, and a cherished great-grandmother to David Clodfelter Jr. (“Davie”).

Elsie was a longtime member of Buchanan Baptist Church and found great joy in her faith and the friendships she built throughout her life. She was an avid cook and baker, known for the love she poured into every meal she prepared. Her grandchildren will always remember being welcomed by the comforting aroma of homemade dishes and desserts made just for them. She also had a lifelong passion for gardening, taking pride in growing vegetables and tending to her beautiful flower gardens.

She will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family, her quiet strength, and the kindness and love she shared so freely with others.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caring nurses and staff at Friendship Skilled Nursing and Gentiva Hospice, as well as to Kaitlyn Glass, RN for her compassionate care. A special thanks is also extended to her neighbors, Madeline (“Bugs”) Markham and Becky and Bruce Loflen, for the love, support, and kindness they showed her while she was at home.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 27, at Botetourt Funeral Home, 14920 Lee Highway, Buchanan. The family will receive friends at 11 a.m., followed by the service at 12 Noon, with the Rev. Ray Sandifer of Shiloh United Methodist Church officiating.
