

James Madison University in Harrisonburg will be the site of the Virginia High School League Class 1 and 2 state track meet this weekend. Events will be held Friday and Saturday and James River will have athletes in the meet.
The Knights had a good day at the Region 2C meet at Glenvar High School last Friday. The meet was moved up to 9 a.m. to beat the weather and all the events were completed.
River’s Kaia Binns won the 200-meter dash in a time of 26.68 and also finished second in the 100. Samaya Osborne was second in the shot put and Denver Rinehart was second in the 400 and fifth in the 100. River’s 4×100 relay team was fifth and Rhaya Kitt was sixth in the long jump.
In the boys meet, Jack Beheler won the discus with a toss of 144’10” while Jayden Alston was second in the discus and fourth in the shot put. Ryder Ward was fifth in the triple jump.
In the running events, Gavin Binns took second in both the 100 and 200. Braden Jones was fourth in the 800.
