Claude Samuel “C.S.” Humbert, Jr., 93, of Troutville, passed away Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Friendship Assisted Living.
C.S. was born in Botetourt and lived in the area his entire life. He was the son of Claude S. and Lydia White Humbert. C.S. retired as a mail carrier from the US Postal Service and was a dairy farmer for most of his life. He was a life member of the Cloverdale Church of the Brethren and sang in the choir. C.S. enjoyed watching all sports, was an avid gardener, and loved caring for the birds. He had many beloved pets through the years. He and his wife were members of the 300 Club for many years and very much enjoyed their time dancing and socializing with their many friends.
In addition to his parents and his wife of 68 years, Barbara Smith Humbert, C.S. was preceded in death by his brothers, Daniel Humbert and William Humbert; sisters, Catherine Graybill and Dorothy Humbert; and niece, Linda Harris.
He is survived by his nephews and nieces, Dean (Allison) Humbert, Donnie (Tracy) Humbert, Julie Beckner, William (Suzanne) Humbert, Rod (Lisa) Smith, Marisa (Jimmy) Smith, Jeff Smith, Adam (Cassie) Smith, and Willard Harris.
A graveside service honoring his life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 6 at Daleville Cemetery, 939 Roanoke Road, Daleville with Pastor Patrick Starkey officiating.
