Steve Clinton, Amsterdam Election District representative on the Botetourt County Board of Supervisors, announced he will open an office on Tuesday, April 17 that’s dedicated to the service of citizens of his district.
The office at 44 Catawba Road, Suite 105, will provide a convenient, central location where individual constituents can meet with Clinton to discuss county issues, his announcement said. It will also provide space for Clinton to hold small “town hall” meetings throughout the year and to assemble the members of various county committees.
Clinton said he is using personal funds to cover all costs of the office. No Botetourt County tax dollars are involved.
“As far as I can tell, this is the first time that a supervisor in Botetourt, or for that matter, any nearby county, has personally established a district office for convenient citizen access,” Clinton said.
Initially, the office will be staffed Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.; Wednesday from 4-6 p.m., or as otherwise posted. Other hours will be by appointment. Call 992-3066 for available times.
“We will revise the hours of operation as necessary,” Clinton said. “The goal is to ensure a more open governing process with greater citizen participation in decision-making.”
