The Botetourt Resource Center and Solomon’s Mission are sponsoring a “coat drive” through October 22. The organizers are asking the community to focus the donations for new or “gently used” winter coats for children age 3 (pre-school) through eighth grade. This is the age group with the greatest need. However, donated coats for any age will be accepted.
The following locations are providing drop-off bins for donations:
- Botetourt Resource Center
- Solomon’s Mission
- Buchanan, Eagle Rock, Fincastle and Blue Ridge Libraries
- Bank of Botetourt branches in Buchanan and Daleville
- Wampler Realty (64 Wendover Road, Daleville)
Once the coats have been collected, the organizers will work with local schools to provide the coats to students in need. Depending on the number of coats collected, they will also be provided to the various clothes closets in the county.
