The public is invited to a screening of the documentary “Bobwhites on the Brink” in the Lord Botetourt High School auditorium on Thursday, April 20 at 7 p.m.

The 30-minute documentary is part of the syndicated This American Land series and is being presented by the Botetourt Longbeards Chapter of the NWTF and Lord Botetourt High School FFA.

The documentary looks at the decline of the Northern Bobwhite quail and its habitat range-wide.

Following the movie, local experts from the Quail Recovery Initiative, National Resources Conservation Service and Virginia Department of Game & Inland Fisheries will discuss the state of the Bobwhite in Virginia, what can be done to bring them back to private property, and how property owners can effectively manage the same habitat for pollinators, songbirds and big game.

That brief presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer session for those who want to stay.

The screening is part of the Longbeards’ quail habitat initiative in the county.
