Miss Virginia Volunteer is a new chapter of a nationwide, service-oriented scholarship program that seeks to empower young women through educational scholarships and service opportunities. The inaugural at-large beauty pageant will be held this year, August 12-15, at the Academy Center of the Arts in Lynchburg. Being an at-large pageant means Miss Virginia Volunteer contestants do not have to win a local competition — anyone in the state can apply. Winners will receive thousands of dollars in scholarship funds towards education.
Miss Virginia Volunteer will continue the legacy of traditional pageants and will consist of five categories for judging – interview, talent, evening gown, fitness and wellness, and onstage questions. Each of these categories will allow the contestants to showcase their talents, knowledge and unique personalities. No previous pageant experience or titles are required to enter to win the crown.
The winner of the pageant will go on to represent Virginia at the national pageant, Miss Volunteer America.
When serving as Miss Virginia Volunteer, the winner will champion a social cause of her choosing without having to take a year off from her education or career. She will have the opportunity for personal growth and to build relationships across the state in the field or platform that interests her. Miss Virginia Volunteer provides connections, opportunities, and lasting impact for young women in the state.
