Members of the Lord Botetourt and James River Band programs participated in the 2025 Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association District VI All District Bands this past weekend.

To earn a chair in an ensemble the students must successfully audition in December. Last December, almost 500 band members from across the district auditioned to earn a chair in one of two ensembles, the Concert Band or Symphonic Band.

Students earning a top chair in the Symphonic Band also earn All-State eligibility. LB students Owen Hilgers and Colin Mason will audition for All-State Band and Orchestra at the end of February at James Madison University.

The students gave an outstanding performance under the direction of Doug Martin, Concert Band, and Dr. T. Andre Feagin, Symphonic Band.  Each band had less than 48 hours to prepare a concert with their guest clinicians.  The students had a remarkable experience and performed exceptionally.
