Crowell T. Smith, Jr., 95, of Botetourt, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 21, 2021.
Crowell served proudly in the United States Army, serving in World War II and later retiring from the National Guard. He was preceded in death by his parents, Crowell Smith, Sr. and Ada S. Smith; wife of 53 years, Clara L. Smith; brother, Andrew W. Smith; sister, Frances Rosen.
He is survived by his nieces, Nancy Waddell and husband Danny, Brenda Daugherty and husband Wayne; Patricia Hall, and special niece, Donna Duncan and boyfriend Bill Beasley; nephews, Richard Heslep, Roger Heslep and wife Myrteen, and Jimmy Lawrence and wife Peg; special caregiver, Susan Cox.
A graveside service with military honors was held Friday, November 26, at 11 a.m. at Sherwood Memorial Park. Arrangements were by Simpson Funeral Home, Peters Creek Road Chapel, (540) 366-0707.
