Jeremy Blewett from the Roanoke Valley Breakfast Lions Club spoke at the September 17 meeting of the Daleville/Fincastle Lions. His topic was “Preventing Identity Theft” and touched on robot phone calls, email tricks of scammers, and protecting WiFi connections. He also spoke about the importance of investing in reliable virus protection software and ways to secure a VPN.
Members of the club reviewed plans for helping in the JDRF walk to be held on September 22. This is the second year that members have participated and volunteered in various areas for the walk. Working to find a cure for diabetes is one of the five focus areas of the Lions.
The public is always invited to attend a Lions meeting. Currently the meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month at noon at The Glebe. On the third Tuesday of each month, the 6 p.m. meeting is held at Leonardo’s. Times and days may change as the club adapts to the times available for working men and women as well as retirees.
