Lord Botetourt’s Alisa Davidova won the zone qualifying golf tournament Monday at the Glenrochie Country Club in Abingdon and will be playing in the Virginia High School League girls tournament next Monday at the Heritage Oaks Golf Course in Harrisonburg. Davidova also led the Lord Botetourt team to a fourth place finish in the Class 3 state tournament last week.
The state Class 3 tournament was also held at Heritage Oaks and Meridan High was the team champion with a score of 297. Botetourt shot 316 for fourth place overall led by Davidova’s one-under-par 69, good for second place individually. Also scoring for the Cavaliers were Aidan Mitchell and Jeremy Simmons at 80 each and Hayden Firestone shot 87. Jaxon Turner shot a 91 and Garrett Honts had to withdraw due to an illness.
On Monday of this week Davidova shot a three-under 69 at Glenrochie to win the girls zone qualifier. Four of the 21 girls competing qualified for the state, as 15 percent of the competitors advance.
Joining Davidova at the state tournament next Monday from Zone 6&7 will be Kathryn Ha of Salem, Christinia Zochowski of John Battle and Angelina Booan of Hidden Valley. The girls state tournament includes girls from all VHSL classifications and Ha, who finished second to Davidova Monday, won the Class 4 individual state championship last week.
