Hazel Joyce Davis, 99, of Fincastle passed away on January 1, 2025.

A native of Wyco, W.Va., she was the beloved wife of the late Ray E. Davis and daughter of James and Fannie Joyce, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Louise Moorefield; brother, James L. Joyce; and sister-in-law, Clara Joyce.

Hazel moved to Fincastle in 1953. She loved to travel and enjoyed many cruises and beach trips. Her favorite pastime was shopping, but most of all she loved her family and adored every generation of babies that came along. Any time a baby was nearby she always wanted to kiss its feet. Hazel was very creative and could make anything out of an egg carton. She loved to feed her family and was famous for her potato soup and cornbread.

Hazel was a longtime member of Zion Hill Baptist Church and then Fincastle Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and her church family.

She was known by many names by those who loved her: Mother, Nina, Sissy and Auntie. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Cindy St. Clair and husband David; son, Dennis Davis and wife Bonnie; nine grandchildren, Vicki, David, Aaron, Adam, Dale, Heather, Carey, Allison, and Abby; 16 great-grandchildren, Spenser, Maggie, Anna, Mary Grace, Uriah, Noah, Ezra, Abram, Holden, Hollis, Ryan, Rachel, Ben, Nicholas, Lauren, Mikhail; four great-great-grandchildren, Gemma, Austin, Callen, and Amelia Hazel; and one brother, Danny Joyce.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Gentle Shepherd Hospice and Carrington Place for their care and support.
