Donald Arthur Dittmann, 69, formerly of Botetourt, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2020 at Sunflower Gardens in Hopewell.
Donald was born January 25, 1951 in Tonawanda, N.Y., and was the son of the late John D. and Betty J. Stenzel Dittmann. He lived in Botetourt for 32 years before moving to Hopewell in 2019.
Donald was an accountant for the Internal Revenue Service, retiring in 2009 after 37 years of service. He attended Villa Heights Baptist Church, and was a movie buff who enjoyed camping, feeding and watching birds, and was always interested in his daughters’ activities.
Donald is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jean Mallory Dittmann; daughters and son-in-law, Diana and David Hudson of Henrico, and Katie Dittmann of Iron Mountain, Mich.; grandson, Christopher Hudson; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marilyn and Ronald Curtis of Tonawanda, N.Y., and Janice and Daniel Cooper of Stevensville, Mich.; several nieces and a nephew.
A celebration of Donald’s life was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 5 at Villa Heights Baptist Church, 4080 Challenger Avenue, NE, Roanoke, with Pastor Jake Huffman officiating. A private entombment was held at Old Dominion Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum. The family received friends 6-8 p.m.Friday at Rader Funeral Home, Daleville.
