James Brack “JB” Duke, 87, of Buchanan, left his earthly home on Monday, September 23, 2024.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sally Landes Duke; parents, Alfred and Polly Duke; and siblings, Viola Morris, Tommy Duke, Dewey Duke, and Earcel Wright.
JB is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Tony Blackburn and Carol and Luke Winand; grandchildren, Whitney Blackburn, Blake Winand (Natalie Harper) and Molly Winand (Jeffrey Hannah). He was also Granddaddy to one great-grandchild, Bracksley James Winand, who has been a bright spot thru this cancer journey. JB is also survived by siblings, Madeline “Bugs” Markham and Will (Ann) Duke; and numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart. The family wishes to thank his caregivers, Pam Crabb and Marcie Harless, and his Amedysis Hospice ladies, Debra and Monica, what a team of angels he had on his side.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 28, in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home with Pastor JR Graybill officiating. The family received friends from 4-7 p.m. Friday, September 27, at the funeral home.
