Lee Franklin Dunbar Jr., 63, of Eagle Rock, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2024.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lee Franklin Dunbar Sr. Lee’s life was a testament to how much he loved his family, friends, and most importantly, Jesus.
Lee is survived by his beloved wife, Leslie Crow Dunbar; children, Brianna Diaz (Benjamin) and Lydia Dunbar; grandchildren, Benson Diaz; mother, Emma Carolyn Dunbar; siblings, Jeff Dunbar and Sheila Wriston; several wonderful siblings-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Lee was a beloved son and brother who filled his family’s lives with humor and unwavering support. He married the love of his life, Leslie Crow Dunbar, and together they shared 26 wonderful years of marriage. They loved spending time together singing and playing music, serving Jesus, and treasuring family. Their love for each other will never be forgotten.
Lee and Leslie were blessed with two children: Brianna and Lydia. Lee wasn’t just a dad, but a constant source of wisdom, love and strength for his family. He loved playing Mario Kart with his daughter Lydia and enjoyed watching her play soccer growing up and never missed a game. Lee shared a special bond with his daughter Brianna, in their mutual love for the game Zelda. Brianna looked up to her dad and will miss him as a father and friend. His son-in-law, Benjamin, loved hanging out with him, and called him “Dad.” They loved talking about fishing and tying flies, and Benjamin will miss Lee deeply. Lee was so excited to have his grandson, Benson, and talked often of going fishing and enjoying adventures with him one day.
Lee was a true friend to everyone around him. He was a faithful member and deacon at Fincastle Baptist Church. His love for Jesus was fierce. He was a godly leader in the church, the SWVA Emmaus community, and at home. Lee loved to play the banjo and pick with his friends, and he would never miss a trip to the Galax Fiddlers Convention. Lee’s legacy is one of love, strength, and Christ-like faith. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit lives on at the feet of Jesus.
