The Eagle Rock Library will join other libraries in Botetourt hosting open houses during September. Eagle Rock’s is Saturday, Sept. 14 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., in honor of National Library Card Sign-Up Month.
During the open houses, all overdue fines will be forgiven, no matter the amount; however, the book must be returned. If the book cannot be found, it can be paid for an all associated late fees for that item will be waived.
The Eagle Rock Library will have crafts for the kids and is releasing its new children’s cards. Any child that does not have a library came is encouraged to come in and get one. Tours will be given and other activities will take place.
During the open house in Eagle Rock, local author Bruce Ingram will speak from 10-11 a.m. and recipes from his book “Living the Locavore Lifestyle” will be served. The first meeting of Eagle Rock Sprouts will occur as well. Patrons can come in and learn about the importance of agriculture in their lives and will be able to make homemade butter.
Eagle Rock is having the annual Autumn Book Sale on October 3, 4, and 5 during regular business hours.
The library also is bringing back weekly Friday afternoon crafts for kids, starting September 6, from 2:30-3:30 p.m. The schedule is:
September 6: Picture Frame Leaf Print Etchings
September 13: Apple Paper Plate Lacing Wreath
September 20: Sunken Treasure Discovery Bottles for Pirates
September 28: Fall Fox Pictures
All crafts are free and there is no need to register.
