The Eagle Rock Ruritan Club has partnered with the Compress & Shock Foundation and Botetourt Fire and EMS to bring an adult and pediatric CPR/AED class to the Eagle Rock Elementary School at 3 p.m. October 15. That is the 2nd annual Restart a Heart Day, with organizations across the nation holding similar community-based classes. The class is specifically designed to educate the public to act quickly in the event there is a cardiac arrest, to start CPR and use an AED if it is available. The Ruritans welcome anyone aged 13+ years and will have stations available for practicing skills that are accessible for anyone.
The Eagle Rock Ruritan Club will qualify for an AED to be placed in the Eagle Rock Community Center if there are at least 35 participants in the course on October 15. Please register at this link:

Eagle Rock Ruritan Club news
At the September meeting of the Eagle Rock Ruritan Club, the guest speaker was Erin Slusser-Pease, current president of the Eagle Rock Elementary School PTA. Erin enthusiastically presented some of the initiatives that are planned by the PTA this school year. She also challenged the Eagle Rock Ruritan Club as well as individual members to partner with the PTA in its various efforts to provide the best elementary school experience possible for the students there. Erin suggested that Ruritan members might begin by joining the PTA and taking advantage of the many opportunities to be an active part of what is happening at Eagle Rock Elementary.
Club President Beth Leffel reminded members of the great opportunity to participate in the CPR and AED class to be held at 3 p.m.. on October 15 at the Eagle Rock Elementary School. Admission is free but registration is necessary. The goal is to get at least 35 participants in the class so that the Eagle Rock Community Center might be equipped with a free AED unit. If you would be willing to participate in the class, contact Beth Leffel at leffel4botetourt@gmail.com.
