Botetourt County has had a strong turnout for the November 5, 2024 General Election. As of Saturday, October 26, 6,525 voters have cast their ballots in person since early voting began on September 20. In 2020, 6,328 in-person voters had cast their ballots as of the same date. In addition to early voting, approximately 1,200 voters have returned their marked vote-by-mail ballot for a total turnout of just under 28.5%.
Voters are reminded the deadline for in-person early voting is Saturday, November 2 at 5 p.m. The Registrar’s Office will be open 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. through Friday and 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, November 2. Voters must report to their assigned polling locations on Election Day. There is no voting on Election Day in the Registrar’s Office. Voters who are unsure of their polling location can find it at https://www.elections.virginia.gov/casting-a-ballot/polling-place-lookup/.
Voters who have received a vote-by-mail ballot and wish to vote in person must surrender that ballot. If the ballot is not surrendered, the voter is required to cast a provisional ballot. Marked vote-by-mail ballots must be received in the Registrar’s Office no later than 7 p.m. on Election Day if returned in person or put in the drop box. If the marked ballot is mailed, it must be postmarked by Election Day and received in the Registrar’s Office by noon on Friday, November 8.
