DALEVILLE – With little discussion, the Botetourt County Economic Development Authority transferred the new Colonial Elementary School to the School Board during its Jan. 22 meeting.
The new school, which opened Monday to students, replaces a structure built more than 80 years ago, when FDR was president.
By approving the resolution, the EDA transferred nearly 27 acres. According to one document the purpose of the transfer was to “promote the safety, health, welfare, convenience and prosperity of the school children….”
During the short discussion, EDA members approved a Temporary Use Permit application after learning the school needs “assistance” with connecting to the Internet. The authority arranged for a temporary tower to be installed to wireless connectivity while an Internet service provider completes the permanent service to the building.
