Charles Lee Elliott, 82, of Fincastle died Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Carrington Memory Care following a long illness.
Charles was born January 22, 1936 in Burnsville, N.C. and lived in Botetourt County most of his life. He was the son of the late Homer and Ida Gardner Elliott and served with The United States Marine Corps for four years.
Charles was employed with Botetourt Sheriff’s Office for eight years and retired from Norfolk and Western Railroad after 27 years of service. He enjoyed hunting and fishing; had a good sense of humor and was a no-nonsense kind of person.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his brother. James Robert Elliott. and his daughter, Shirley Yvonne Elliott. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lois Kidd Elliott; son and daughter-in-law. Bradie Keith Elliott and Jacqueline Elliott of Fincastle; daughter and her fiancé. Sherri Leigh Keeney and Greg Horne of Fincastle; (like a daughter) Delma Tingler of Eagle Rock; grandson Logan Keeney; brothers and sisters-in-law. Richard and Sharon Elliott of Troutville, and Billy and Dedi Elliott of Blue Ridge; sister. Rachel Hancock of Daleville; several nieces and nephews.
The Elliott family would like to extend a special thank you to Carrington Place and Carrington Memory for the exceptional care they gave to Charles.
A celebration of Charles’ life was held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 11 at Rader Funeral Home, Daleville with the Rev. Sheryl Merritt officiating. Burial was in Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery in Eagle Rock. The family received friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1 p.m. Monday.
