Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Robert C. Elliott, Jr., 76, of Blue Ridge, passed away peacefully at home on December 22, 2023.
Bob loved the outdoors and, after retirement, outside is where he spent his time; whether it be walking in the woods, hunting, or working around his home.
Bob spent the majority of his career working in the banking field; he had a gift with figures and an impressive understanding of tax laws, estate planning, and personal finance. For the last 10 years of his career, he was the Administrator of The Park Oak Grove, a senior living facility.
Bob served his country on the aircraft carrier, USS America, from 1966 to 1968 in the Gulf of Tonkin. Bob loved music and played the bass guitar. He knew all the lyrics, the writers and performers of so many songs from the late ’50s and most of all the ’60s. His personal sheet music notebook was huge. Bob and Jean enjoyed many years as Lord Botetourt band chaperones. His granddaughter, Madison Elliott, and stepson, Christopher Sieger, were both members of the Lord Botetourt Marching Band. Football and music have kept Bob and Jean happy and busy. Bob enjoyed going to Lord Botetourt football games with his son. Bob and Jean both owned vintage Ford Mustangs and traveled the East Coast showing their street driven cars, each winning many awards.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert C. Elliott, Sr., and Valerie C. McGrath Elliott.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Jean Carmack Sieger Elliott; his son, Keith S. Elliott, wife Angie, and granddaughters, Chloe and Madison Elliott; stepson, Christopher Sieger, wife Ashley; grandchildren, Austan, Caleb, Houstan, Fate, and Bayleigh Sieger; and by his twin sister, Joan Elliott Phillips, husband Jim.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 28, 2023, from 11 a.m. till 1 p.m. at Oakey’s East Chapel followed by a graveside service at 2 p.m. at Evergreen Burial Park with Military Honors by the U.S. Navy. Arrangements by Oakey’s East Chapel, 540-977-3909.
