Buchanan dates to remember
- Buchanan Community Carnival – Open every evening through July 6.
- Fourth of July BBQ – Don’t want to cook? Drop by the Buchanan Town Park this Fourth of July at 11 a.m. to purchase barbecue meals to go for $10. Chicken is slow roasted over an open pit all night, marinated in a secret recipe, resulting in a delicious tender barbecued chicken. The meal includes 1/2 of a chicken, baked beans, potato salad, dinner roll and bottle of water for $10. Don’t be disappointed, come early before it all sells out.
- Buchanan Fourth of July Parade – Main Street closes at 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 4 to allow for line up of the parade. The parade begins at 5 p.m. Parade winners will be announced from Center Stage following the parade. Winners may pick up their trophies from the Carnival Office at the entrance of the Town Park.
- Fireworks Display – Enjoy this year’s incredible fireworks display on Thursday, July 4 and Saturday, July 6, both beginning around 10 p.m. Come to the carnival early, stay late for this spectacular display headed up by Burleigh Gilliam, his sons and team of volunteers.
- Second Sunday Dinner – Save the date of Sunday, July 14 for Second Sunday Dinner in the historic Wilson Warehouse/Community House beginning at noon until 2 p.m.
- Reggae By the River – Saturday, July 20 is Reggae By the River. Additional details may be found on the town website at www.townofbuchanan.com or in future editions of The Fincastle Herald.
It’s showtime at the library
Calling all entertainers– Do you sing, dance, play an instrument or perform magic? Do you write poetry? Do your friends and family say you’re funny?
Whatever your talent, if you are in grades K-12, you are invited to perform in the Botetourt County Library’s talent show on Monday, July 22 at 2 p.m. at the Fincastle Library.
Prizes will be given in two divisions: Grades K-6 and Grades 7-12. Individual and group performances are welcome. Each act will have five minutes to perform.
