Classic movie matinee at Fincastle Library

The Fincastle Library will begin showing classic films on the big screen in October.

On the last Monday of each month, at 1:30, a free showing of a timeless classic will be offered.  Light refreshments will also be served.

October’s movie is a horror film from 1931, starring Bela Lugosi, David Manners, Helen Chandler and Dwight Frye.

Cookbooks for sale at library

Cookbooks, sponsored by Friends of the Eagle Rock Library, are now available. “Hometown Favorites” are $10 and may be obtained at the library.

 

Eagle Rock Library Book Sale in October

Eagle Rock Library is holding a Book Sale Thursday-Saturday, Oct. 19-21 at the library.

Hours are 1-7 p.m. on October 19, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on October 20 and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on October 21.

 

Vendors wanted for Eagle Rock Craft Fair

Friends of the Eagle Rock Library is seeking vendors for a Craft Fair that will be held at the library Saturday, Nov. 18. Vendor spots are $10. To reserve a spot or for more information, call 928-2800.

 

Buchanan Dates To Remember

  • Mountain Magic In Fall Festival Call For Craft Vendors – Be part of Buchanan’s 23rd annual Mountain Magic In Fall Bluegrass, Antiques & Crafts Festival as a vendor on Saturday, Oct. 7. For an application check the town’s website at www.townofbuchanan.com.

 

Book Sale Oct. 6-7 at Buchanan Library

The Friends of the Buchanan Library will be holding their semi-annual Used Book Sale on Friday, Oct. 6 (9 a.m.-5 p.m.) and Saturday. Oct. 7 (9 a.m.-4 p.m.). There are hundreds of used book for sale. Hardbacks are $1, paperbacks are 50 cents, children’s books are 25 cents, and all media is priced at a $1 or less. There is also a selection of specially priced books. The Friends are still accepting donations of used books for the sale (no encyclopedias, textbooks, or magazines). Entrance to the sale is either through the library or use the entrance from Lowe Street. All of the proceeds from the sale are used to help fund programs and materials for the Buchanan Library. The library is located at 19795 Main Street; 928-3005.

 

Learn to Paint October 13

Rheta Craft is holding a Learn to Paint Class Saturday, Oct. 13 at the Buchanan Library from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. in conjunction with Botetourt Parks & Recreation. The cost is $55, which includes all supplies. Participants should bring a drink and bag lunch. Call Rheta to register at 540-793-1665.
