Botetourt County will host another Community Feedback Session as part of its ongoing effort to update the county’s Comprehensive Plan, “Envision Botetourt 2045.” The first two of these sessions were held at Greenfield and Colonial Elementary Schools, and residents are encouraged to attend the last meeting to share feedback and learn more about the county’s vision for the next two decades. It will be held Thursday, Oct. 23, from 4:30-7 p.m. at James River High School.
The Comprehensive Plan will guide how the community grows and evolves over the next 20 years— from housing and infrastructure to public services and land use. Having a visionary and up-to-date plan is critical to the long-term success of the county. It serves as the guiding document used by county agencies, residents, employers, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure that the community evolves in line with a collective vision for the future.
The plan:
- Shapes the places where residents live, work, shop, and play
- Guides public services, infrastructure, and capital investments
- Directs the use, density, and design of buildings within the county, influencing the community’s physical form as it grows and develops
Over the past several years, Botetourt County staff, community members, the Planning Commission, and the Board of Supervisors have worked collaboratively to produce Envision Botetourt 2045, a new Comprehensive Plan that charts the county’s path forward.
Community meetings were scheduled to give residents the opportunity to provide feedback and ask questions. Following the meetings and the closing of the community survey, county staff will work to incorporate the feedback received.
