• Buchanan Community Carnival Raffle Tickets – The Big Prize Raffle Tickets are in. Time to pick up your tickets to sell or time to drop in to the Buchanan Town Hall on Main Street to purchase your tickets for the opportunity to win $5,000 cash as well as many other valuable prizes during the Buchanan Community Carnival.
• Buchanan Third Friday Block Party & Cruise In – “Meet Me on Main Street” on Friday, May 17 for a celebration of life in small town America. Bring family, friends and a lawn chair, then be prepared to discover the simpler things in life; good friends, good food, good music and good times. Activities begin at 5:30 p.m. and continue through 8:30 p.m. A family affair, Meet Me on Main Street features an antique auto cruise in, a community market, kids’ activities including games and the Art Wall and music. May’s performer is Hoppie Vaughn and the Ministers of Soul.
Game Night May 17 at Buchanan Library
Friends of the Buchanan Library will host a Game Night on May 17, from 5-8 p.m., in conjunction with the Special Events Committee’s Third Friday Cruise-In. Bring a favorite game and a snack to share. Don’t like card or board games? The Friends will have a couple tables set with jigsaw puzzles, too. Or just enjoy a snack while and socialize with friends and neighbors. Blue Ridge Library Friends holding book sale
The Friends of the Blue Ridge Library will hold their spring used book sale May 16-18. There will be a large selection of gently used books on a wide range of subjects both fiction and nonfiction. Money made at the book sales is used to fund items not covered in the library budget such as help with the summer reading program, new posters for the library encouraging kids to read and, of course, stickers.
Hours for the sale are Thursday, May 16 from 5-8:30 p.m., Friday, May 17 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., and Saturday, May 18 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. For information about the sale call the library at 928-2900.
Haley to lead Buchanan Library’s ‘Virtual Walk in the Woods’
The Friends of the Buchanan Library invites everyone to a “Virtual Walk in the Woods” on May 16 at 6 p.m. at the Buchanan Library. The walk will be led by Master Gardener and Naturalist Donna Haley in the comfort of the Buchanan Library meeting room, where she will take you on a virtual walk through the woods to learn about why forest ecology is so important. Attendees will learn about the forest habitat and the eco support services that it provides. Everyone is welcome and this program is free to the public. Bingo fundraiser for Mike Walters postponed
The Pampered Chef Bingo fundraiser for Mike Walters will not be held on May 25 due to the Memorial Day weekend. It will be rescheduled toward the end of June.
