Beginning this evening, Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 8 p.m., weather permitting, exit ramp and lane closures will impact traffic throughout the Exit 150 interchange for the next few weeks as construction crews continue to make improvements to the eastern section of the project.
According to the Virginia Department of Transporation (VDOT):
- On February 28, Exit 150A on I-81 northbound will be closed from midnight to 5 a.m.
- On February 28, a right lane closure will be in place on I-81 northbound from mile marker 149.7 to 150.2 leading up to Exit 150A from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning for signage installation.
When the right lane opens at 5 a.m., traffic using Exit 150A will only be able to turn right onto US 11 southbound. Drivers requiring access to Alt. 220 (Cloverdale Road) will need to use Exit 150B.
- In addition, the right through-lane on US 220 southbound will be closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., for pavement markings and signal operations. This closure will remain in place for approximately two weeks or until the median barrier is constructed between exit 150A and US 220 southbound
- Once the new median barrier is constructed, the existing median barrier will be removed and replaced with a new raised concrete median between US 220 northbound and southbound. This will require nighttime lane closures, Sunday through Thursday, 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
