The Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Program is dedicated to supporting and promoting agriculture by educating local communities, demonstrating stewardship through outreach projects, and advocating for Farm Bureau policies.

This local committee is actively involved in various initiatives throughout the year:

  • March – Ag Literacy Week:They visit classrooms in all seven elementary schools across the county, reading the annual Ag Literacy book to students. This initiative helps introduce more than 600 children to the importance of agriculture.
  • May – Eagle Rock Science Fair:They engage with students at the fair, offering hands-on experiences and exhibits that showcase local agriculture.
  • August – County Fair in Buchanan:Their booth features a variety of agricultural products, educational handouts about crops and livestock, and resources on home gardening.
  • September – Beaver Dam Farm Sunflower Festival:They connect with visitors from near and far, sharing knowledge about farming practices and the significance of agriculture.

During their “off” months, they continue their efforts by supporting local FFA and 4-H groups, donating fresh fruits to food pantries, and expanding their agricultural knowledge through local, district, and state conventions.

Women interested in agriculture may attend the next meeting on Monday, February 10, at 6 p.m. at the Botetourt County Farm Bureau Office, 4450 Roanoke Road, Daleville.
