Pop-up shopping comes to downtown Buchanan this Saturday as local vendors take part in the town’s monthly Farmers’/Community Market. Vendors start setting up at 8 a.m. to be ready for sales by 10 a.m. Those who wish to beat the heat may come early to buy as vendors are setting up.
Community Development Planner Harry Gleason noted, “The market provides opportunities for local farmers and garden enthusiasts as well as crafters churches and civic organizations to directly sell to the public while helping add a vibrant setting for shoppers.”
The Buchanan Farmers’/Community Market offers a low-barrier entry points with spaces costing $5 per space, giving vendors an opportunity to start small, grow, and maybe one day open a brick and mortar shop.
Buchanan’s Farmers’/Community Market “complements the community by adding to mix of activity, providing a variety of local produce and handmade goods from valley farms and entrepreneurs. Shoppers are encouraged to explore the community, discover places to shops and eat throughout the town. Visitors can round out their experience as they take a picture at the Buchanan LOVE works sign, Swinging Bridge or hike, bike and paddle one of the nearby trails,” Gleason said.
Gleason invites everyone to be part of future markets as a vendor or shopper and encourages you to save the dates for future markets – August 27, September 24, November 26, and December 10.
